It’s not just Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Portugal, Spain and Italy. If they go under, the world banking system ends. And if Greece goes, the others will almost certainly follow. It seems completely incredible, but there is only one real solution to the crisis, which is to cancel all debt public and private, and start over on a new basis. Otherwise, we are facing a world-historical catastrophe that is going to impoverish every single human being on planet earth and leave us unable to recover for so long that civilzation itself will crumble.

OpenMinds got an excellent brief interview with Dan Ackroyd, including his thoughts on the abductions, Budd Hopkins, the United Airlines UFO over O’Hare Airport, Reagan’s UFO sighting and much else. He has always refused any contact with me, I suppose because he listened to Budd’s comments about me when he was squabbling with me, but he remains an important and welcome part of the UFO field. When I was growing up in the south, I saw way too many cases like that of Troy Davis. My guess is that this man is entirely innocent, given that so many witnesses have recanted their testimony. Maybe he is a good man and maybe not, but nobody deserves to die over such a flawed case. But a black man on death row in the south has little chance. To learn more about his plight, click here.

So many people want so badly to believe that everything is all right with our climate that we still lack the will and the leadership to do what is necessary to save ourselves. As matters stand, we are in for a descent into climate hell. How ironic that the governor of Texas, one of the worst-hit states this year, is an outspoken global warming denier. If people like him were leaders instead, we could still find our way out of this crisis.
