Recently, Dr. Steven Greer, the emergency room physician turned UFO researcher, organized his second Washington press conference designed to spur congressional hearings on the subject that would bring an end to a perceived government cover-up of UFOs.

A similar conference held some years ago by Dr. Greer was a disaster. Among other things, a letter was distributed erroneously claiming that Mr. Richard D’Amato, a Senate staffer with responsibilities for, among other things, intelligence oversight, could and would absolve people of their obligations under their security clearances. Dr. Steven Greer recently organized a highly successful press conference at which a number of government and military personnel came forward and discussed their UFO experiences. After an initial chill, the conference received surprisingly good press coverage, with one or two exceptions.

However, even the existence of the close encounter phenomenon went unmentioned. Instead, throughout the conference Dr. Greer spoke against the President’s planned missile shield, saying that it was a means of preventing a benevolent ‘galactic federation’ from coming into open contact with us, and that the US stood in the way of mankind gaining both an energy source that would end pollution as well as access to the stars.

Sightings of a mysterious gigantic cat, about 4 times the size of a domestic tabby, have been reported during the past 10 years in south Herfordshire near north London. The animal was nicknamed the Beast of Barnet.

The mystery was solved when a lynx was spotted sitting on a suburban garden fence. It was captured during a dramatic operation involving armed police, vets, zookeepers and the RSPCA.

The animal was stalked through back gardens and streets for 6 hours, until it was captured. After being shot with a tranquilizer dart, it jumped over a 6 foot fence and escaped across public tennis courts.

In 1972 in the little town of Louisiana, Missouri, there were sightings of a large, hairy creature with a nasty smell that became known as the ?Missouri Monster? or Momo.

When a 15-year-old girl reported seeing Momo outside her home, a local posse was formed to search for the creature. Reporters flocked to the site, but nothing was ever found. It was a classic example of a Yeti sighting.
