A few years ago, I wrote about meeting an angel in a Kinko’s copy shop. This time around, I was an angel for SOMEBODY ELSE, although I didn’t realize it until later.

Yesterday, I was feeling a bit chastened. We had recently gone to a special volunteer breakfast at our church and volunteered for almost EVERYTHING, but no one called us back for ANYTHING. Since I know they need volunteers (otherwise, they wouldn’t have held the breakfast), I assumed it was the old UFO prejudice coming to the fore again and that made me very sad.

A new bill introduced by Senators Joe Lieberman (I-Ct) and John McCain (R-Az) seeks to bar ‘enemy combatants’ from civilian trials or access to normal representation or due process. But the bill is so vague that it could easily turn the US into a police state. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., expressed reservations about the bill, saying he “understands what John and Joe are trying to do.” But the former military lawyer added, “I just don’t feel comfortable with it. There is a role for the civilian courts to play.”

Has God got something ELSE in store for us? Italy may be the next site for a huge natural disaster. Europe’s largest undersea volcano could explode, creating a tsunami that would engulf southern Italy at any time. An Italian vulcanologist says, “It could even happen tomorrow.”

Yahoo News quotes Enzo Boschi as saying, “Our latest research shows that the volcano is not structurally solid, its walls are fragile, the magma chamber is of sizeable dimensions.”

It happened to humans in the past: We know that dinosaurs became extinct due to an asteroid impact, but why did they rise to such power in the first place? It turns out this was caused 200 million years ago by volcanoes.
