Researchers say that returning to the slimmer days (we’re talking body weight here, not about the economy) of 40 years ago would not only help our health, it would help climate change AND the recession. In the UK, scientists think that people are eating almost 20% more food than they did back then, and all that farming (use of tractors, as well as trucks to take the food to stores) sends up lots of greenhouse gas emissions.

Now that former Astronaut Edgar Mitchell discussed his belief in aliens at the recent X Conference, the Telegraph Online has compiled a list of 12 famous people who have publicly declared their belief in aliens, UFOs and a possible government conspiracy to cover the whole business up.

Jimmy Carter: “I don’t laugh at people any more when they say they’ve seen UFOs. I’ve seen one myself.”

General Douglas MacArthur: “The next war will be an interplanetary war. The politics of the future will be cosmic, or interplanetary.”

J. Edgar Hoover, recalling a UFO encounter over Los Angeles: “We must insist upon full access to disks recovered. For instance, in the LA case the Army grabbed it and would not let us have it for cursory examination.”

Instead of a person – In the TV series Boston Legal, one of the characters was in love with an inanimate object. It turns out this is no joke: it really happens. It’s called “objectum sexual” (OS) and for some reason, it mainly affects women. A German woman feels as if she was married to the Berlin Wall (now that it’s been torn down, she must feel like an abandoned woman). A French woman is having an affair with the Eiffel Tower.
