Chinese archeologists say that they have discovered that 12,000 years ago, an alien race used some regions of their country as a massive headquarters here on Earth. They base this conclusion on the Xianyang pyramid near the top of Mount Baigong in the western province of Qinghai. While it must be realized that much of the news coming out of China is bogus, we are willing to consider that something strange went on there in the past.

UFOs are nothing new: On his website, Colin Andrews reports on the discovery of a UFO sighting in the UK in 1733. It was "a report of a silver disc darting across the sky as fast as a falling star."

UFOs have been causing problems for CERN in the form of mysterious rapid beam lights dumping "dust particles" on the Collider. Strange things happened in the past as well: Thanks to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, the National Security Agency (NSA) has declassified a report from 1957 saying that 29 mysterious signals were received and verified as being "of extraterrestrial origin."

When we’re looking for extraterrestrial life, other moons may be our best bet. Among the most habitable alien worlds is Saturn’s moon Titan.

In recent years, the search for potentially habitable planets outside our solar system has increased. NASA’s Kepler space telescope, launched in 2009, has found more than 1,000 possible planets so far. BBC News quotes astronomer Dirk Schulze-Makuch as saying, "The first question is whether Earth-like conditions can be found on other worlds, since we know empirically that those conditions could harbor life."

A highly anticipated recent NASA press conference which promised to "discuss an astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life" fell rather flat when it was revealed that what they were talking about was arsenic, not ETs. But scientists are excited because the discovery of bacteria that can thrive on arsenic–an element that is toxic to most humans and animals–means that our ideas of what it takes for life to develop on a planet need to be expanded. The bacteria was found in Mono Lake in California. CNN quotes researcher Ariel Anbar as saying, "Life as we know it requires particular chemical elements and excludes others, but are those the only options?read more
