This is an unusual video. While it’s true that fireflies do swarm in swampy areas, if this was indeed taken in November, it would be unusual to see them out in such numbers in the Florida Panhandle. It’s also worth remembering that Ed Walters made his UFO videos in this same area, and that a UFO appeared over Gulf Breeze in the Florida Panhandle for many years. Working against this video is the fact that the witness states that he saw the object shoot up into the sky. If so, then how is it that he doesn’t show that event, which would, of course, be strongly suggestive of authenticity? As the video ends in a freeze frame, he cannot claim that he just coincidentally cut off the camera at that moment. So where is the rest of it?

The first part of this story reads like a typical sighting of a fleet of Chinese lanterns, but then it gets very strange. What did these people see? Given that there is no released video, it’s very hard to tell what the object that slowly rose into the sky and then disappeared may have been.

Unfortunately, without being able to talk to the witness who reported this, it is impossible to determine how accurate the story is, but if it is true, it would certainly not be the first time an encounter between a huge UFO and a military aircraft has taken place. The most famous such incident took place over England in 1957, when Dr. (then Major) Milton Torres was ordered to scramble his fighter and attack a UFO he described as being "the size of an aircraft carrier." When he armed his rockets, it disappeared.
