On Monday, April 22, Dr. Steven Greer released his documentary, Sirius. Reading and watching the pre-release publicity, I got the impression that the small figure that was its primary subject might not be human or a known animal. Just before release, it was announced that evidence indicated that the individual had been 6-8 years old at death, and therefore that the many suggestions that it was a fetus were incorrect.

As pointed out by Lee Spiegel in the Huffington Post, the lead scientist featured in the documentary, Dr. Gary Nolan of the Stanford School of Medicine, states briefly in the documentary that the body was ‘human.’ It is also stated in the documentary that another year of DNA research will be needed to make a final determination about the DNA. However, Alejandro Rojas of Open Minds reports that he inquired of Dr. Nolan, asking him by email for further clarification. Mr. Rojas states that he replied, ““The sequence that we got from the mitochondria [energy factories of cells] tells us with extremely high confidence that the mother was an indigenous Indian from the Chilean area.”

Of course, it’s always possible that a deeper study will reveal some greater mystery, such as a father of unknown origin, but right now all we are looking is a child with an unusual and spectacular deformity. For Dr. Greer to prove that this specimen has at least in part an alien origin, it is essential that the father’s DNA be found.

In the documentary, Dr. Greer is vague about the origins of the small body, saying only that it came from Chile. In fact, it was found in 2006 by a souvenir hunter in the ghost town of La Noria. He sold it to a barkeep for about $65, and it was displayed in the bar for many years to paying customers. It was eventually bought by a UFO investigator and appears to have come into Dr. Greer’s possession in 2009, at a conference in Barcelona. In the documentary, he states that he was ‘not allowed’ to do DNA testing on it until 2012, but does not explain why that would be.

The balance of the documentary makes an extensive case that is the backbone of Greer’s Disclosure Project, which is that a power-mad elite bent on retaining its wealth is keeping the truth about aliens–that they are benevolent and stand willing to share extraordinary technology with us–from ordinary people. This is, in effect, the opposite of the Budd Hopkins hypothesis, which was that a terrified and incapable government is keeping the truth about aliens–which is that they are dangerous and exploitative–from a helpless public.

The Atacama child remains something of a mystery. In a study completed a few years ago, Dr. Francisco Etxeberria Gabilondo, a professor of Legal and Forensic Medicine in the Basque Country University, concluded that the body was “a completely normal mummified fetus.” However, Dr. Ralph Lachman, Co-Founder and Co-Director of the International Skeletal Dysplasia Registry at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles has concluded that the body is that of a child, not a fetus.

The remains reveal what appears to be a unique abnormality, but they are the remains of a human being, not a creature from another planet. So far.

It is impossible for me to believe that Dr. Greer has not known this for some time. One wonders if, had he revealed Dr. Nolan’s clear and unequivocal report that this was a human child on the day he received it, the documentary would have been such a sensation, or even if there would have been enough financial backing to enable him to make it.

So the Atacama child is a scientific mystery, but at present a human one. I had hoped it would be otherwise, I must admit, although I had serious doubts that any alien corpse would be left lying around anywhere on Earth. In fact, I am most unsure about the whole nature and origin of UFOs and the close encounter experience. We have yet to come to a clear answer about any of it, frankly. We have many scientific tools that can be applied to it, but so far nothing of any real scientific consequence has been done.

The greater mystery is very real, and, for that matter, the mystery of the Atacama child is, too. I hope that Dr. Nolan’s statement that "the people I’ve come to meet through this process have convinced me thoroughly the observed phenomena around the planet should not be ignored.  That has been an awakening for me,” will be heeded by other scientists.

There are quite a few things that the scientific community could do to sharpen the focus of the UFO mystery in general, and probably even solve at least some parts of it. There is plenty of physical evidence out there that can be gathered, and is accessible to study at a high level of scientific finish. It is simply not true that the phenomenon is too ephemeral to admit of study.

In my book Solving the Communion Enigma, I outlined exactly what can be done and how to do it. The book was not reviewed in any mainstream media, or in the popular scientific press. No interest was expressed from any quarter in the quite straightforward and relatively inexpensive studies that can and should be done.

The Atacama child is a human mystery, and one that has, at the present, nothing to do with the UFO and close encounter phenomena. Hopefully, the effort needed to find the child’s paternal DNA will be mounted, and maybe that will bear fruit.

Beyond that, though, something can be gained from the documentary’s notoriety. Maybe some scientists will heed Dr. Nolan’s comment, and begin to take a closer look at the extraordinary evidence that is available across the whole spectrum of the phenomenon. We need not only to find out on what level it is ‘real,’ but to try to gain some insight into who is right about it, Dr. Greer or Budd Hopkins, or if it is too complex to be characterized in a simple black or white manner.

For my part, I stand ready to offer whatever insight and support I can. And, unlike the Sirius documentary, I don’t cost ten dollars. My help comes free.

  5. In regards to the “a
In regards to the “a power-mad elite bent on retaining its wealth is keeping the truth about aliens” Vs “a terrified and incapable government”, I could see how it can be both depending on a point of view. Obviously they are capable to some degree but against an ET presence even 100 years older than us? I doubt it.

And the same goes for “benevolent space brothers” and a malevolent, exploitative presence. Not only could it be both but there could be a multiplicity of conditions and variables that would be more a spectrum than “this vs that”. Perhaps there are species with good intentions that aren’t what we would find quite so desirable?

    In regards to the DNA,

It’s been said that at least some of these non-human appearing beings are actually human. David Wilcock speaks on that frequently, Dan Burisch also talks about Human ‘extraterrestrials” from our future and Richard Dolan also talks about ‘breakaway’ civilizations of “extra-terrestrial humans”.

Of course there is the possibility that because we were created by them, as many creation myths intimate, we have essentially identical DNA? Monkeys and humans share 98% of the same DNA.

If a being this unusual could be human DNA then perhaps all manner of variations are possible within the human DNA code?

There are European folk beliefs about changelings which parallel the alien abduction phenomenon. These fearie folk that steal human children and replace them with another repulsive and strange and often sickly child. These fearies or elves not only abduct humans but mate with them. They are present in indigenous cultures in central and south America and are frequently experienced when in altered states of consciousness via Psychedelic plants. There is a certain Magical tradition that has been distilled through Greek, African, Arabic folk traditions that feature physically evoking these spirits and communicating with and learning from them and their summoning is rooted in ancient necromancy which means “communications via the dead”. I mention this because of the connection between these supernatural non-human beings and the dead.

Perhaps humans from other timelines, dimensions and even universes are interacting with and even responsible for the creation of Human beings as we are? Like an Oroboros, and no one knows how it started? Perhaps, in the end, Alien contact is something we are doing to ourselves? Perhaps our choices and direction we are heading changes the types and natures of contact we have?

Perhaps DNA is something that ties us together through these other zones?

and perhaps there are other layers including true Extraterrestrials and intelligent machines as well?

Where has our beloved Vallée gone hiding? Who’s to be the next Hynek? The field has so precious few objective thought leaders remaining while filled to the rafters with those who’ve it all figured it out, and will happily sell you a book/video proving it. What accomplished scientist in their right mind, or rather left-brain, would wade into the mess that is “ufology” when it’s represented by opportunists like Greer? The field has sold its soul and lost its mind.

The way in which this documentary was created and distributed via Yerka is in itself revolutionary. This is how important films that would have otherwise been hacked down or bought and shelved by the corrupt media companies will be revealed to us, the public. Although thought to be mythical, the reality of Nimerigar tales was called into question in 1932 with the discovery of the San Pedro Mountains Mummy, a 14-inch-tall mummy found in a cave 60 miles south of Casper, Wyoming, which was thought by some researchers to be that of an adult male. However, a more recent interpretation is that the mummy is an anencephalic infant. Uncertain whereabouts of the anomaly leave the verdict open.

  13. I agree with cjazz in that
I agree with cjazz in that the primary purpose of this film is the funding of a public laboratory, which will be witnessed by millions hopefully multiple millions, the more the better. And thus the better chance of getting an “over-unity” energy device out to the whole world breaking the super-rich’s monopoly on oil, coal, gas. Thus a better chance of garage “inventors” not being bought out, bullied, or killed outright. I saw a “twitter” quote by Greer the other day saying “We don’t know what this is.” referring to the Atacama body. What Greer does have is multiple witnesses stating under Federal oath including possible penalty of Perjury, what they saw and witnessed. We’ve also got Steven Bassett and the parallel work his is doing. I say these are signs of hope and progress!

Greer has done some positive things in this field but when all is said and done, I suspect the Sirius documentary will wind up doing more harm than good.

Whitley has covered the issue with the fetus and there’s nothing of value I can add to it. Aside from the fetus debacle, my biggest problem with the film is that it comes off as a vanity project for Greer. It seemed as though half of the documentary was dedicated to scenes of Greer trying to convey to the viewer “Look at how much I’ve sacrificed and suffered to bring all this information to you”.

The problem of course, is that there’s very little new information being delivered in what was supposed to be an earth shaking documentary.

Ever hear the old saying “divide and conquer”? There’s power in unity. I guess the UFO research field still has not learned that simple lesson. We’re still squabbling children.

As far as those that are hiding the truth… they don’t have much to worry about. We can’t form a solid front to pose any kind of threat to them. Sometimes I wonder who’s doing more to STOP disclosure, them or us?

    Some questions…

    1. If the “Child” is human, are there others like it medical history to compare with?

    2. Could it be that “aliens” genetically engineered this creature from humans to do their bidding (whatever that may be)?

    a. If so, then it would require gene-splicing and the DNA studies should reveal this. Experts, then, should be able to track down those areas in the DNA responsible for the considerable “abnormalities” and compare them to DNA that codes normal human development.

    3. Has anyone interviewed the indigenous people in the Atacama region where purportedly this creature came from?

    a. I ask this not just because it would be a good idea to get an understanding of the local history of the region in regards to their legends and mythos but because of the following:

This has no scientific basis but I found it to be very intriguing so please bear with me.

There is an episode of Josh Gates’ “Destination Truth” whereby the team traveled to northern Chile (I believe it was near the “Astronaut” depiction near Nasca or not too far from there) to investigate some mines.

These mines were supposedly mined by these little aliens, about the size of the Sirius creature. To get into these mines, the team had to repel into them.

I forget what type of mines these were but the local people would see these little 6-inch tall bipedal creatures working away, mining whatever they were mining. The locals also explained that lights would also descend upon the desert as well.

Indeed, towards the end of their investigation, Josh’s team saw a bright light come on not to far away – in the middle of nowhere – on the desert floor. At the same time, the soundman’s speaker started emitting strange language-like mechanical sounds – even though parabolic dish was unplugged! After the light left, the sounds stop.

The point to all this is, DNA is great but a living creature is better. Wouldn’t be a good idea to have parallel investigations. One focusing on the DNA and another focusing on capturing or at least video recording these creatures?

DNA studies are very expensive. But as a start, how much to video?

Haven’t see the documentary, but I have been keeping up with this story for a while. The fact that this little being has human DNA is fascinating to me, but then I am not stuck in the groove of finding proof of aliens from another world.

The ‘Starchild’ project is ongoing, and Lloyd Pye has been through some struggles for years, without the high profile of Dr. Greer. I personally believe that Mr. Pye could prove that the Starchild is alien beyond all doubt and the story would still die a slow, painful death due to lack of interest and imagination in the scientific community, and by extension, the media. The ‘Starchild’ also has been shown to have human DNA, but also some DNA that is definitely not of human origin:

    http://www.starchildproject.com/dna.htm

The fact that this tiny being discovered in Chile has proven to have human DNA, and that he was at least 7 years old is a big story on its own and raises lots of questions about his origins, and how he was able to survive for 7 years. How was he born? His skull is unusual looking as well. I am no less interested in this case knowing that science has shown that he has human DNA, and I feel that many of us are victims of our own delusions about what we think constitutes the definition of ‘alien’. We must keep our minds open and not get ourselves locked into our own preconceived notions about UFOS or what defines us as ‘human’.

Human or ‘alien’, this story is important.
