I’m writing this on the Wednesday before the December 21, 2012 event. It has been disgracefully debased by all of the fake end-of-the-world hysteria spread by hucksters and nincompoops, but the real message of the event is still well worth contemplating. For my own part, I am going to spend a quietly meditative day reflecting on the power and mystery of the spiritual journey. It’s not that I believe that a mysterious galactic alignment will somehow enhance my energy; I don’t. But I know from nearly half a century of regular mediation that higher energies are real and vividly conscious, and are more than willing to engage with us. While this is always true, the intensity and depth of the experience increases when groups work together. Whether or not they are in the same physical place does not matter at all.

In addition, the way these energies affect both body and soul changes with the seasons. For an example of a seasonal meditation, visit our Meditation Group. The current meditation (December 20 and 27, 2012) is designed to connect the meditator with the same special seasonal
energy that has inspired human celebration during the winter solstice since time immemorial, and is also part of the lovely spirit of Christmas.

On December 21, many people who are on spiritual journeys will be engaging in whatever ritual seems important to them, in order to let the energy of the moment enter them and become part of them. That it is also the winter solstice makes it all the more meaningful.

I can recall doing precisely the same thing during the Harmonic Convergence in 1987. This was a worldwide synchronized meditation organized by Jose Arguelles, intended to open us to higher energies during a grand planetary alignment. Anne and I went to a small gathering, and then I spent the rest of the time in meditation, simply opening my inner doors. As happened to so many, the event proved to be seminal in my life. On that day, I discovered second-body sensation, which has never since left me, and has become the foundation of my meditational journey and, I believe, my consciousness.

So it was an important day for me, not because of some hyped-up magical mystery tour trumpeted by the media–although there was plenty of that going on at the time–but because I made myself available, thus joining the worldwide group that was doing the same. It was not the magic of the planetary alignment that made true change possible, but the exquisite energy of the group effort.

We no longer have Jose with us to elevate the media circus to a higher level, which he did so expertly during the period of the convergence. Nevertheless, it is important to recall that the indigenous wisdom that he drew upon is real and valuable. We are indeed passing to the 5th World, and it will be a new world for those who want to make it so.

One of the most extraordinary things that the visitors ever said to anybody was said to Col. Philip Corso when he asked one of them, ‘What is on offer for us?’ The answer was, ‘a new world, if you can take it.’ This means both bearing it and ceasing to spend our lives passively waiting, and take what is on offer.

Friday will be a good day to make a new start.

    Whitley, I too was at the Harmonic Convergence in 1987 as we gathered at the top of Monks Mound (Cahokia site in Illinois). The connection to each other was amazing as we entered into this globally synchronized meditation. It seems fitting that José Argüelles, born January 24, 1939 came into this world under the sign of Aquarius. Also, interesting that he chose to pass over from this planet at the age of 72 (a mystical number).

    I plan to join everyone in the meditation on Thursday night, then, on Friday will be traveling for the holidays. I am going to put forth my best effort to stay focused on the day.

    The older I get the more I think that it’s a good thing, to each day spend a little time, going inside, to be receptive and to focus awareness internally. It’s easy to let the world take you, from distraction to distraction, to get caught up in seeking sensation. Especially when that is what is offered to counteract, what is essentially the boring industrialization of consciousness. I see December 21 as just that, another sought after sensation, another distraction, that has the potential to take us all away from our real selves yet again. But it doesn’t have to be that way. What ever happens that day, short of the an Alien fleet appearing in the skies over the earth, will be tainted by our incessant need for stimulation. Still once you have tasted of the divine, no other bread can satisfy…

Our sun’s alignment with the great dark rift reminds us, even in this busy materialist age, that we have a sacred and intertwined relationship with our cosmos, and with those in the past; just as we will one day be as they, to those who are yet to be.

    I went to the University of Pennslyvania’s Anthropolic Musuem to see the exhibit:
    Mayan: 2012. Fasinacting artifacts and long term calendar comparsions.

    This is the take away from the science & research:

    1) There was NEVER any destruction of the world mentioned, and thus the world will never end until the sun fades or a rogue meteorite hits earth.

    2) There is no higher frequency change for spritual enlightment.

    13th baktoon is merely the end of a cycle.
