We have reported before on how red wine can almost be considered a medicine?and it’s also a good disinfectant!

The consumption of more than three glasses of red wine a week reduces the risk of getting colon cancer. Also, researchers have found that men who drink an average of four to seven glasses of red wine per week are only 52% as likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer as those who do not drink red wine. Red wine appears particularly protective against advanced or aggressive cancers. It also helps protect against a heart attack, a stroke and diabetes.

Moderate drinkers are more likely to report above-average health than lifetime abstainers, light drinkers and heavy drinkers. Researcher Michael French says, “Our [study] results suggest that a moderate amount of drinking is not necessarily dangerous for most people and may actually be health-enhancing.”

In LiveScience.com, Dave Mosher reports that wine is also an effective antiseptic! The compounds found in both red and white wine fights off germs that cause dental plaque and sore throats.
