According to Dubai’s Gulf News, Pakistani Interservices Intelligence Chief Lt. Gen. Mahmood Ahmed, who has been in consultations in Washington, is now in Kabul to deliver an ultimatum that the Taliban face “horrific retribution” that includes the use of neutron bombs unless they turn Osama bin Laden over to the international community.

“Pakistan has aligned itself with the international community in the fight against the scourge of terrorism and has agreed to deliver a final ultimatum to the Taliban to hadn over bin Laden or face retribution of horrific proportions,” Gulf News was told by a source within the Pakistani government.

As of 0700 PM EST there has been no word from the Taliban in response to Pakistan’s initiative. The Taliban governing council will meet early this morning Kabul time to begin considering the matter. Kabul is 8 1/2 hours ahead of US EST.

Opinion: The ‘neutron bomb’ scare is just that–something designed to frighten somebody. Will it work?
