North Korea has been accused of killing the babies of pregnant women who are brought back after escaping to China. These women are kept in a detention camp, where they are given abortions or else their babies are killed at birth, as a way to keep the North Korean race “pure.”

Between 200,000 and 300,000 North Koreans are believed to have crossed into China during the severe famine of the 1990s. If they are discovered by Chinese police, they’re forced to return home.

A U.S. Committee for Human Rights in North Korea (CHRNK) report, based on the testimony of dozens of escaped prisoners, describes induced labor in pregnant women, after which their newborns are suffocated, sometimes with a towel, in front of its mother. Many former prisoners told about babies buried alive or left face down on the ground to die.

There is also torture and malnutrition in the camps. One former prisoner said he looked forward to his walks outside, when he could find plants and grass to eat. As in the concentration camps of the Nazis, no one is expected to survive. Hitler was also obsessed with the idea of “racial purity.” Former guard Ahn Myong-chol says that between 1,500 and 2,000 prisoners, mostly children, die there each year.

Can we predict the rise (and fall) of these evil monsters? Hear a truly wise man talk about the case for astrology on this week’s Dreamland.
