Scientists are studying African birds in an attempt to identify the mysterious source of the Ebola virus. In the Republic of Congo, where there was a recent outbreak, people probably got the disease from infected gorilla meat. But gorillas are also being killed by Ebola, so they’re not the source of the disease. “As long as we haven’t established the source of reservoir of the Ebola virus, it’s an illusion to think of an appropriate cure,” says William Karesh, of the U.S. Wildlife Conservation Society.

WorldNetDaily reports that Saddam couldn’t have been killed by the U.S. strike because he died from cancer in 1999. Dr. Moslem al-Asadi, who lives in exile in Iran, says, “The real Saddam died because he had cancer of the lymph nodes, and since his death in 1999 they’re just showing his doubles.” Al-Asadi says Saddam’s sons, his first wife and Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz keep the truth hidden by using three doubles and that Saddam’s younger son, Qusay, is actually running the country.

Atlantic Bottle-Nosed Dolphins have arrived in Iraq from San Diego to act as mine detectors. They arrived at the southern Iraqi port of Umm Qasr, which has been secured by U.S and British forces. They will help make sure the coastline is free from mines before humanitarian aid shipments dock there. This isn’t a suicide mission?the dolphins have been trained not to swim up to the mines, but to place a marker a short distance away, so they won’t get blown up.

U.S. Navy Captain Mike Tillotson says, “They were flown over on a military animal transporter in fleece-lined slings,” he says. “We keep them in a certain amount of water. They travel very well. They will be given restaurant quality food and vitamins, and they will work out of wells which we’ve set up here.”
