Health officials have confirmed 26 cases of dengue fever in Hawaii?s first outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease in more than 50 years. Our warming climate means that disease-bearing mosquitoes will be likely to move north, bringing with them diseases that have traditionally been seen only much closer to the equator.

The Dengue Fever outbreak is not believed to be related to any sort of bioterrorism. Dengue Fever is not considered a bio weapon. It must be communicated to the human body by mosquitos.

hurricane – Hurricane Iris, with sustained winds of 140 mph, is heading for the Central American nation of Belize. It is feared that this dangerous hurricane will devastate the country.

The military is attempting to evacuate the 65,000 residents of the capital, Belize City, which is expected to experience an 18 foot storm surge. Downpours were expected to cause mudslides and floods. A government spokesman said that the country was in “a state of emergency.”

The storm has killed three people in the Dominican Republic and caused damage in Jamaica. At 5 p.m. EDT, Iris was approximately 160 miles east of Belize City, moving westward at 20 mph.

The United States today filed papers with the United Nations indicating that it has the legal right to expand its military operations to countries outside of Afghanistan.

At the same time, it became more likely that an anthrax event in Boca Raton, Florida was a terrorist attack. It is believed that Iraq has an extensive stock of anthrax.

It is known that terrorist leader Mohammed Atta met with Iraqi intelligence agents in Prague last summer. Atta took flying lessons within a few miles of the offices of American Media where the anthrax spores have appeared.

President George W. Bush has said that the United States will retaliate against all states that harbor terrorists or aid them in their efforts.
