UFOs are commonly seen in the sky, but we’ve been searching in vain for alien signals for a long time now. We may have finally found one (let’s hope we don’t shoot at them this time).

A planet that lies in the habitable zone of another star, which scientists have named Gliese 581g, may have sent out a signal in the form of a burst of light. Australian astronomer Ragbir Bhathal detected the pulse of light 2 years ago, coming from that part of our galaxy.

We’re doing it the wrong way – A senior SETI astronomer says that we are trying to communicate with other intelligent life forms in the wrong way–maybe we should be searching for thinking machines rather than biological life forms.

Researcher Seth Shostak says we are assuming that extraterrestrial intelligence can be found in worlds like ours, with liquid water and gaseous atmospheres. But the development of artificial intelligence, which is the next step for mankind, may have already occurred on other worlds. In PhysOrg.com, Lin Edwards quotes Shostak as saying that we may be “chasing a very short-lived prey.”

Never heard again – We send signals out into space, but we never seem to get a response–except for ONCE, over 30 years ago. When we try to talk to them, we need to remember that the reason for their silence may be the fact that we have tried to shoot them down.

Recent instances of radar interference over Australia remain unexplained, but are believed by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology to have an atmospheric explanation. Episodes of interference have taken place in the past, but there have been numerous instances since January 15, and the Bureau’s refusal to explain them has led to speculation that they could represent classified military activity or even some sort of alien communication.
