The attacks have come within 24 hours of Vladimir Putin’s agreeing with Barack Obama at the UN to avoid direct conflict in the country. Ignoring the ISIS positions Putin claimed that the Russian Air Force had been sent to Syria to attack, two Russian bombers instead struck the positions of moderate anti-Assad forces near Holms.

Russia has threatened Denmark with nuclear consequences if it participates in NATO’s missile shield program. The program is designed to shield the NATO alliance area from missiles from any region, not just Russia. It has been made a defense priority in Europe, primarily because of the missile program under development in Iran. European intelligence sources believe that Iran now has a missile capable of reaching Europe, but that it is not accurate enough to be reliably targeted. A pattern of purchasing efforts over the past few years, however, indicates that the Islamic Republic is working quickly to change this, and it can be expected that target acquisition capabilities are increasing steadily.

An inexplicable sleeping sickness is affecting one in ten residents of a village in Kazakhstan in Russia.

Villagers in Kalachi have been affected by the mysterious disease for the past two years, but to date, no cause for the illness has been determined and, despite teams of virologists, radiologists, toxicologists and doctors collaborating to solve the mystery, they have been unable to find a cure.

Circling high above us in space, a mysterious object is being tracked by the US military. The strange object, which has been entitled Object 2014-28E, was secretly launched in May by the Russian military, but nobody knows its purpose and so far Moscow’s ministry of defence is remaining tight-lipped.

2014-28E first came to the attention of the world when it was sighted recently by amateur astronomers. It was initially thought to be space debris originally sent into space by Russia to add communication satellites to existing military space hardware, but its behavior has since been so unorthodox that there are now concerns that it could form part of a more sinister plan, concerns fuelled by the fact that Russia did not declare its launch.
