A tiny English village is the latest place to become tortured by the "hum." The 300 residents of Woodland say that every night a noise fills the air that resembles to the throb of a car engine. Sometimes it’s so strong it shakes their beds. But despite all their research, no one can find the source of the night time noise. It’s similar to a hum heard in Bristol in the 1970s, which bothered over a thousand people, giving them nosebleeds, insomnia and headaches, then vanished without explanation.
In the June 9th edition of the Telegraph, Richard Alleyne quotes Woodland resident Marylin Grech as saying, "In certain areas of the house you can hear it more loudly. It is definitely from outside, it’s in the air, all around, very faint. It vibrates through the house. We’ve turned all the electricity off in the house and we can still hear it, so it’s not that. Sometimes we’ll be in bed and it vibrates right through our bed, like a throbbing. It leaves a buzzing in your head for the rest of the day." Alleyne quotes government official Gary Hutchinson as saying, "I can confirm that we received a call regarding a humming sound in the Woodland area earlier on June 1 and we will now make further enquiries before deciding what action we will take."
