After crop circles appeared in a wheat field in Solano County, California, in June, four teenage boys confessed to making them. Now, after a 5 month study, researchers have concluded that they couldn’t have done it?the “hoax was a hoax.”

The Bay City News reports that Steve Moreno of Psi Applications, says, “We’ve concluded that it’s highly unlikely that four teenage boys could have made the large, complex crop circle that appeared on June 28 in Larry Balestra’s field. The scientific data, and our ongoing investigation, tend to point towards some other, perhaps anomalous, unknown source? The physical changes in the wheat stalks can’t be duplicated.”

The teens said they made the circles at night, using boards and a rope, but Moreno’s group proved that they were made the way all authentic circles are created?with sudden bursts of heat from an unidentified microwave device. “Only microwave energies have duplicated the effects shown in the growth nodes of formation samples,” Moreno says. A ball of light was seen hovering above the field on June 27.

Also, the boys say they did the work during a full moon, but there was a new moon on June 29, meaning there would have been very little moonlight to work in on June 27.
