Top US officials are leaking information that there is evidence that master terrorist Osama bin Laden appears to be responsible for today’s attack on America. Bin Laden was responsible for the attack on the USS Cole in October of 2000, and numerous other terrorist actions in recent years.

The Taliban government of Afghanistan said earlier today through its ambassador to Pakistan that they did not believe that bin Laden could have mounted such a complex and sophisticated attack. The US has stated that Afghanistan will be held directly responsible for any attacks by bin Laden.

While most of the world’s leaders, including Arab leaders, have condemned the attack, an Unknowncountry.com source in Israel reports “an explosion of joy” in Palestinian areas, with people dancing in the streets and throwing handfuls of candy.

Opinion: Previously, the US and its allies have used a criminal justice model to address the problem of terrorism. That must change. The only model that can work is the military model, with a firm foundation in on-the-ground intelligence, coupled with effective action on behalf of world peace. The present policy of relying on electronic intelligence, dealing with terrorism as if it was criminal behavior rather than military activity, and attempting to isolate the US behind long-range weapons shields has been invalidated by the events of September 11, 2001.

We were blindsided by this attack. Our intelligence and security infrastructure failed completely. We must change our approach to terrorism. Now.
