Two British newspapers have declared that the mysterious sunken continent of Atlantis has been discovered, thanks to a new internet tool. This discovery was first announced on British author and underwater explorer Graham Hancock’s message boards!

In the February 20th edition of the Telegraph, Matthew Moore explains that Atlantis may be located 620 miles off the coast of north west Africa near the Canary Islands on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean, because of a “network of criss-cross lines” in a “prefect rectangle around the size of Wales” has been discovered in the new internet map of the ocean floor called Google Ocean.

Moore quotes historical archeologist Charles Orser as saying, “The site is one of the most prominent places for the proposed location of Atlantis, as described by Plato. Even if it turns out to be geographical, it definitely deserves a closer look.”

In the February 20th edition of the Sun, Virginia Wheeler and Rhodri Phillips write that the “blank spots” within the grid lines cannot be explained, and quote a Google spokeswoman as saying, “Bathymetric (or sea floor terrain) data is often collected from boats using sonar to take measurements of the sea floor. The lines reflect the path of the boat as it gathers the data. The fact that there are blank spots between each of these lines is a sign of how little we really know about the world?s oceans.”

Graham Hancock, who explored sunken underwater cities in his book Underworld, writes: “Turns out it’s an ‘artefact of the imaging process’?that’s the official story from Google. Kind of makes sense: the sea floor image is compiled from sonar surveys, and sonar tracks do look much like that as the boat goes back and forward over a section of the sea bottom. That being said there is more structure in this image?much more?than I’d expect from sonar tracks.”

Frequent Dreamland guest Greg Little, director of the DVD Search for Atlantis, says, “Modern side-scan sonar can yield incredible bottom images but the problem is that when contours like these are seen they look quite intriguing?yet you don’t know what it really is until you look at it up close. The area of the find is consistent with both Plato and Edgar Cayce’s statements about the location of Atlantis, and it is likely that there are underwater portions of Atlantis scattered from Gibraltar to coastal Central America. I would not be at all surprised if the find was eventually verified as a remnant of this ancient maritime culture that isn’t recognized by mainstream archaeology.”
