Asian Firestorms Return

May 11, 1999

A massive forest fire is burning the West Kalimantan province of Indonesian Borneo. The fire, outside the provincial capital of Palankaraya, was started during a land-clearing operation. The fire has become huge, and a vast cloud of haze is spreading across the region, causing health problems and complicating air operations in surrounding countries. This firestorm threatens to become as devastating as the storms that erupted in 1998, covering the whole region in a pall of smoke.

Megadrought Predicted by Meteorological Group

World Watch – A study published in the December 1998 Bulletin of the American Meterological Society suggests that long-term climate patterns could result in droughts of unprecedented severity in the United States. Records show that droughts like the seven-year dust bowl of the 1930s occur in our country about twice a century, according to Connie Woodhouse and Jonathan Overpick of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. There also exists a historic pattern of droughts that last for decades, the last two being recorded in the 16th and 12th Centuries. Severe droughts ?could recur in the future, leading to a disaster of a dimension unprecedented in the twentieth century.? Erosion caused by planting of marginal areas could hasten this process.read more

Whitley Strieber Does Art Bell Show

Whitley Strieber hosted the Art Bell Show in limited markets on the nights of April 27 and 28. Strieber hosted the program at his own request, as part of a process of testing possible guest hosts for the show. When Bell returns to the air, it is anticipated that he may not continue the grueling six-night a week schedule he has been on since the inception of Dreamland and Coast-to-Coast. As a frequent guest and fan of the program, Strieber was eager to test as a substitute host.

The test was heard in two markets on April 27, and twenty on April 28.

Additionally, Whitley will be on the full network, May 14th and 17th.

Quantum Entanglement Dethrones Uncertainty Principle

March 22, 1999

A stunning revision of quantum theory has effectively replaced Heisenberg?s uncertainty principle with the concept of quantum entanglement. According to Heisenberg, writing in the early years of this century, both the momentum and position of a particle cannot be known at the same time, because the process of measuring the position changes the particle?s momentum.

Previously, only ?thought experiments? were available to test the theory, but this has changed, and the changes have huge implications in areas such as communications.

Solar Storms to Coincide to Y2K

What may well be the among most powerful solar maximums ever recorded will reach its height over the next 18 months, according to astronomers. Cycle 23 ?will be one of the largest on record, and compatible with the last two solar cycles,? according to an expert panel chaired by Jo Ann Joselyn of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The panel said that the maximum could peak at 190 sunspots sometime between June of 1999 and January of 2001. In March of 1958, the sunspot number reached 201, the highest ever recorded. In July of 1989, during the height of the last cycle, the number was 159.

Are the Visitors ‘Real’?

February 22, 1999

Since my special has aired, I have been getting a lot of questions about whether or not the visitors are “real.” I put that word in quotation marks for a reason. It is because it seems quite doubtful to me that we are going to be able to determine that in the same way that we can determine whether or not a stone is real.

Look at the 1996 NASA video. It shows some seemingly real objects, including one that even appears to have running lights pulsating on it. But then something with a tail almost like a tadpole goes speeding out of the lights of a city. Subsequently, a doughnut-shaped object, appearing almost like a plasma, comes up out of the clouds and moves slowly past.

Countdown to My Special

February 9, 1999

Even though my special hasn’t yet been seen, I’m already getting outraged e-letters about it. There’s even a website that condemns it as “probably just another skeptic’s hatchet job.” Some are screaming at me for having Philip Klass on the program, others for having David Jacobs, others for daring to mention implants.

Scientist Find Hard Evidence of Ghostly Phenomena

January 18, 1999

The prestigious British scientific journal The New Scientist reports that scientists are beginning to turn up strange physical measurements from ‘hauntings’ as well as intriguing if not entirely convincing photographic evidence. Unusual magnetic fields and areas of extreme cold in otherwise warm rooms are among the findings that have been documented. Skeptics claim that the magnetic field anomalies trigger hallucinations that result in ghost reports, but this does not explain the growing body of photographic evidence. The issue of whether or not the energies are conscious remains open, and in some cases their behaviors are strange. “Even among open-minded sceptics who hanker for rational, verifiable explanations, some experiences have left them puzzled,” the New Scientist reports.read more

Y2K May Be A Bigger Problem than Anticipated

Speaking before a meeting of the World Future Society, Michael P. Harden of Century Technology Services has warned that more serious problems than have been anticipated may arise when computers attempt to shift the calendar to the year 2000. The problem, according to Harden, does not lie so much with software and stand-alone computers, but with millions of chips embedded in all sorts of different systems.

Other experts agree. “It is no minor programming glitch,” according to Jonathan Spalter of the US Information Agency. “If we don’t take action, it could threaten economic stability.”

Confirmation Special To Air Feb. 17

The two-hour Confirmation Special will appear on NBC on Wednesday, February 17. Check your local listings for time. Produced by Mark Wolper and Whitley Strieber, the special searches for hard evidence of the unknown, centered around the issues raised in Whitley Strieber’s book Confirmation. Examining such mysteries as unexplained objects in NASA Space Shuttle footage, never before revealed UFO sightings and explosive new information about implants, the special strives to offer an even-handed view. It gives skeptics and believers equal time to state their cases, and is frank about possible hoaxes.read more

General Entry

January 12, 1999

Well, all of a sudden it’s the new year and I am back from three weeks in Europe, most of which I spent flat on my back with the flu. However, I did get to meet Msgr. Corrado Balducci, thanks to the kind assistance of German UFO investigator Michael Hessemann. I confirmed that the interview with Msgr. Balducci that appears in Confirmation is absolutely accurate, and that he never told anybody that there was a papal commission studying UFOs, or that papal nuncios regularly report to the Vatican on the subject. He was mystified about how any such tale could have been attributed to him. I wasn’t: I know the internet all too well.

Tales of My Author Tour: Speaking at the Pentagon Bookstore

December 31, 1998

On May 11, 1998, I was scheduled by my publisher to give a short speech and autograph books in the Pentagon Bookstore. When I arrived, I was disappointed to find that the public could not get in. At the same time, this also meant that my audience would consist exclusively of Pentagon employees, which was quite interesting to me. I wondered what sort of people would show up to hear me.

New MJ-12 Documents: Yes, But ARE THEY REAL?

December 19, 1998

On the Art Bell program of December 10-11, 1998, J. Robert Oppenheimer biographer James Kunetka raised questions about some of the MJ-12 documents that have recently been distributed by Dr. Robert Wood and Ryan Wood. Kunetka, the author of “Oppenheimer: The Years of Risk” stated that it was his belief that Albert Einstein, listed as co-author of one of the documents, and as a participant in the production of the highly classified “White-Hot Intelligence Report,” did not possess a security clearance.

General Entry

December 18, 1998

The first indication of how financial professionals expect Y2K (The Year 2000 Problem) to affect the economy has appeared in the form of a financial futures trade that reveals their private thinking on this matter. This trade, which consists of a combination of long (purchase) and short (sale for later repurchase at a lower price) positions in financial futures instruments, shows that they expect a spike in interest rates to occur late in 1999. By March of 2000, they expect interest rates to return to normal.

Shocking New Implant Discovery

Well-known special effects artist and abductee Steve Neill has been diagnosed with an apparent implant in his right forearm. The object is to be removed by Dr. Roger Leir’s surgical team.

The object is circular, approximately 1/4 inch in diameter and about 1/16th of an inch thick. The forearm also displayed a fracture line at a 45 degree angle near the location of the implant. Despite this, Mr. Neill has no pain in the arm. This is similar to a painless fracture line found in the arm of abductee Jesse Long, who had an unknown object removed from his left shin in 1989, and the mysteriously fused vertebrae that are present in Whitley Strieber’s neck.

The New Government Documents: An Ongoing Analysis

December 10, 1998

I will be adding to this section frequently, as I delve deeper and deeper into the new document release.

I am not capable of evaluating textual authenticity, and do not advance any claim that I can prove anything about whether or not these texts are hoaxes or not, but if anything I know does shed light on that issue, I will certainly advance it. It is my primary intention to comment on the contents of the documents and not their authenticity. Nevertheless, whatever authentication work I can do, I certainly will.

I know that many of you are having trouble reading the documents as they appear on the Kairos website because of their formatting. Hopefully, that situation will soon be improved.

General Entry

December 6, 1998

So much has happened recently, I hardly know where to begin. First, the internet is humming about Joe Firmage, the person behind Project Kairos and the new documents released on that website. I feel that many of these must be authentic.

Although they have been sent to many reporters, the media has been totally silent about them. As the UFO enigma comes closer and closer to being solved, those who have taken rigid positions pro or con are increasingly becoming silent. The truth is turning out to be too strange, it seems!

There has been some powerful authentication offered for the documents, and some of them contain so many signatures and written notes that the idea of forgery is almost impossible to entertain.

Documents Prove US Recovered ET Vehicles and Bodies

December 1, 1998

Documents have just been released that prove that the US recovered extraterrestrial vehicles and bodies during the Truman Administration. I am aware of the background of these documents, and feel strongly that they are authentic. Not only that, there are more to come, and there could be an official acknowledgement at some point. To read these documents as well as my latest insights into the abduction phenomenon, link to:

Whitley’s Kairos Statement

These documents are under study at high levels both in and outside of the UFO community, and their level of authentication appears to be very strong.

The Alleged December 7, 1998 Landing

November 16, 1998

There is no credible evidence that anything like a landing of UFOs is going to take place on December 7, 1998, or indeed at any other time. A lot of excitement is presently being generated about a landing occurring in Sedona, AZ, on that date. Some UFO investigators are claiming that this is the beginning of the battle for earth– and, in the process, no doubt terrifying some people. In view of the Heaven’s Gate disaster, this is obviously most irresponsible.
