As long as you aren’t among the 4 who got assassinated, that is (NOTE: Subscribers can still listen to this show). When we see and hear the various Presidential candidates debate, we begin to wonder what the office will do to their HEALTH, because it seems like being President of the United States must be the most stressful job in the world.

But believe it or not, most presidents live LONGER than expected for men of their same age and era. Using the often-repeated assumption that presidents age at twice the normal rate, demographer S. Jay Olshansky calculated how long US presidents would have been expected to live based on their age and the year they were inaugurated, and compared it to how long they actually lived.

He found that 23 of the 34 US presidents who died from natural causes lived longer, and in many instances significantly longer, than predicted. Their average age at inauguration was a little over 55 years.
Olshansky says, "We know that socioeconomic status has an extremely powerful effect on longevity now, and it was likely to have been a factor in the past. All but 10 US presidents were college educated, all were wealthy, and all had access to health care."

And you’ll notice that our recent Presidents have all been pretty svelte (Clinton jogged, Bush cut brush on his ranch, and Obama works out). Can you say the same for YOURSELF? Here at unknowncountry.com, we CARE about your health, which is why we’ve made Anne Strieber’s famous diet book "What I Learned From the Fat Years" available as a download, which, at less than $5, is MUCH CHEAPER and MORE EFFECTIVE than the expensive diet books you’ll find on the shelves of your bookstore.
