Throughout 2012, strange sounds were heard in many parts of the world, beginning with a sensational sound in the Ukraine. A spectacular event took place in Spain on April 10, and now on July 9, strange sounds have been reported across the Americas. Strange hums and sounds have been heard since early 2012, beginning with a sound some said was like that of a great trumpet first heard in Kiev in 2011. No sooner had actually unknown sounds been posted in the internet, that dozens of hoaxes followed. The fad died out with the Mayan Calendar ‘end of the world’ date of December 21, 2012, but people have continued to record unusual sounds, some coming from the ground and others from overhead. Sounds that have been going on for years, such as the Windsor and Kokomo hums, remain mysteries.
The video playing here, recorded by a Clearwater, Florida resident seems to be the sound of water or rain, but it was recorded on a clear night. The witness reports that he has been hearing it for three nights, that it can be much louder, and that it ends with an abrupt thud, as this sample does.
There has been a great deal of controversy about these sounds. Some have been clearly identified as hoaxes, but many remain unknown. In 2012, the strange sounds evolved into strange booms, and Linda Moulton Howe did a definitive report about them on Dreamland on April 25. Subscribers can still listen to this program.
