It is about at the intensity I expected, as well. As long as the jet stream remains unstable, there will continue to be fierce weather across the whole northern hemisphere. The greatest danger is not snow and cold, not yet, although we are obviously receiving a foretaste. The greatest danger is extraordinary heat in the summer, and next summer could be a rough one.

The USGS live seismographs are showing a lot of shaking worldwide. Most of it is low-level, but it is unusual for so many seismographs to be reporting shaking at the same time. There have been a number of incidents like this in the past few months. Current data is here.
