Obese children show greater exposure than nonobese children to a phthalate, a chemical used to soften plastics in some children’s toys and many household products. It’s even found in some pacifiers!

Phthalates are found in plastic food packages, medical equipment and building materials such as vinyl flooring, and even in nonplastic personal care products, including soap, shampoo and nail polish. The obesity risk increases according to the level of the chemical found in the bloodstream.

Bees are amazing creatures. Scientists have discovered that older honey bees REVERSE brain aging when they take on nest responsibilities typically handled by much younger bees. They discovered that tricking older, foraging bees into doing social tasks inside the nest causes changes in the molecular structure of their brains. A team of amateur astronomers have tracked down the X-37B spacecraft, launched on a 15-month clandestine mission by NASA in April ril from Cape Canaveral, Florida. This unmanned, reusable spacecraft has been developed by the US military. But why is it a secret? In 2010, an identical unmanned spacecraft returned to Earth after 7 months in orbit.

Precise objectives and cost of the program are classified, and some astronomers have speculated that it could be part of a new generation of spy satellites, or a step towards weaponizing space.

On a clear afternoon in October of 1978, Frederick Valentich disappeared in a Cessna 182 while flying across Australia’s Bass Strait. At the time of his disappearance, he was narrating to Melbourne Air Traffic Control a detailed description of a UFO that was flying close to his plane.

Australian authorities refused to release the full text of the report on the incident, and it was claimed to have been lost. However, Australian UFO investigator Keith Basterfield has located the report in governmental archives, and it has been made available to the public–but ‘need to know’ material apparently remains secret.
