When it comes to museum shows, UFOs seem to be the latest thing. Area 51, about 80 miles north of Las Vegas, was once one of the most secret places in America–so secret that the government denied it even existed. Maps were altered so that its name never showed. We still don’t know what really went on there, but now, thanks to the new Area 51 exhibit now open at the National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas, we may soon know more.

If you’re distressed about your big belly–which seems to be the place we gain weight the most as we get older–you can now be reassured. A fatty membrane in the belly called the omentum has until recently been considered somewhat like the appendix–it didn’t seem to serve much purpose. But researchers have found that the omentum appears to play an important role in regulating the immune system. The omentum is a membrane that lines the abdominal cavity and covers most abdominal organs. It is a repository for fat tissue.

Thousands of witnesses in Azerbaijan, Turkey, Lebanon, Israel and Jordan reported a bright object streaking across their skies last night. It was traveling in a spiral with a large trail behind it. The Israeli Astronomical Association said that it wasn’t a meteor and the Russians announced a successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

Why the Russians would test fire a missile over populated areas for the first time in the history of their missile program was not explained. Previous Russian tests have been carried out across Siberia and the northern Pacific.
