Interested parties claim to have identified the writing on the mysterious placard that is visible on the slide of the alleged mummy of an alien from the Roswell crash that was displayed at a conference in Mexico on May 6. It was claimed that the slide depicted the mummified body of a creature that had died in the crash of a flying disk near Roswell, New Mexico in July of 1947. The first line of the placard reads "Mummified Body of a Two Year Old Boy." Subsequent lines are somewhat less clear, but the analysts can read most of the words: "At the time of burial the body was clothed in a xxx-xxx cotton shirt. Burial wrappings consisted of these small cotton blankets. Loaned by the Mr. Xxxxxx, San Francisco, California."

The placard was deciphered by Nab Lator of the Roswell Slides Research Group using the commercially available program SmartDeblur. Assuming one of the interested parties will provide us with a high resolution copy of the slide, Unknowncountry will have additional professional analysis done, including a repeat of the work done with SmartDeblur, as well as additional work. We have requested copies of the slide from all parties who may be willing to provide them.

UFO researcher Don Schmit said on April 15 that the placard "can not be legibly read by the naked eye, yet we’ve had everyone from Dr. David Rudiak, to Studio MacBeth, even the Photo Interpretation Department of the Pentagon, as well as Adobe have all told us that it’s beyond the pale, that it cannot be read, it is totally up to interpretation. So, we truly feel we have performed due diligence."

The members of the Roswell Slides Research Group are José Antonio Caravaca, Isaac Koi, Nab Lator, Lance Moody, Tim Printy, Curt Collins, Tim Hebert, Paul Kimball, Gilles Fernandez, Chris Rutkowski, Roger Glassell, S. Miles Lewis.

Whitley Strieber comments: "I am saddened but not surprised to see this. It will be used in the general media to dismiss the whole Roswell incident. It is worth remembering what General Arthur Exon said: ‘Everyone from Truman on down knew that what we had found was not of this world within 24 hours of our finding it.’ It is essential that corroborating work be done. Hopefully, we’ll get the chance to do it."
