Saudi stocks getting hammered as signs of unrest in the kingdom increase. Trouble there is trouble everywhere.

Unlike Eygpt, Libya and Tunisia, Saudi Arabia has a substantial extremist population. Should they gain control of the oil, the rest of the world, not just the west, is in serious trouble. We might be left with no option but military action to secure that oil, because billions of lives quite literally depend on it. What is worse, though, is that much of the Saudi oil is in pools which could be ignited. This would not only deny the oil to the world, it would bring about a smoke pillar so vast that it would change the planet’s climate and the composition of its atmosphere, leading to years of cold weather and hydrocarbon polluted rain.
