Visitors. Ghosts. Rainbow People. Dinosaurs. Just how strange can strange get? If this week’s episode were a tabloid headline few would believe it. But it’s not. It’s life. These things are real. And this week’s guest stepped forward because he heard host Jeremy Vaeni on another program talking about his first high strangeness experience at the age of three: watching a parade go by that did not exist. He, too, experienced this and thought he was alone. Now, he’s sharing his highly unusual experiences so that those of us experiencing the same don’t have to feel alone anymore.

  1. The Phantom Circus Parades,
The Phantom Circus Parades, they always bring to mind the legend of ‘The Pied (pie-eyed?) Piper of Hamelin’ from the old German folk tale. The children of that town were stolen; having been led away by the Piper after the citizens refused to pay what was justly owed for the service rendered.

Metaphorically, I wonder if this isn’t the message we are being given nowadays. Whether this phenomenon is intrinsic or extrinsic, we are being asked to give due credit to something we as a species ignore at our own peril.

    1. Yes, it is a good way to
Yes, it is a good way to evoke the deeply unsettling state of our world on many levels.

“Pied” usually means more than one color in animals, though the word doesn’t seem to be used much that way anymore (maybe just because animals and their descriptions aren’t so much a part of most people’s lives anymore, sadly). The Pied Piper character is usually portrayed by artists as something akin to a Jester or Fool, probably related archetypes in European culture, and the traditional costume of the Jester is made up of more than one color either in a design or a chaotic collection. The character of the court fool is usually portrayed as the one person who can speak truth to the king without suffering consequences, but there is also sometimes an implication of deception because the fool can play with the king’s version of reality and might not be benign.

Is anyone familiar with The Circus of Dr. Lao by Charles Finney? I think it belongs as a footnote in this discussion. (The original illustrations are inspired.) It tells a similar story, of a strange circus coming into town and shaking thing up, and resonated deeply with me as a child (though the element of political satire escaped me at the time). The unsettling tv series Carnivale, which is set during the Great Depression, also drew on these archetypes, I think. Strange circuses appear in the media from time to time, with that element of the leader inviting the viewer to come along, including the examples in the other comments here. It’s that creepy element that sticks with you. Why does this resonate so much with us?

Maybe the message in all these stories is to be ready for change and not always welcome challenges to our assumptions about the world. Great discussions. Thanks for the interview and the comments.

  2. Good connection made above,
Good connection made above, Cyan. What an intriguing set of experiences Steven has had. Children experiencers seem to be recipients of the most exaggerated high strangeness of all, merging fantasy and reality into One.

  3. Circus of
    Circus of Strangeness…..

Jeremy….. So, the circus parade that both of you experienced reminded me of the novel by Ray Bradbury, ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes.’

    One creepy book and movie…..

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Something_Wicked_This_Way_Comes_(novel)

The novel combines elements of fantasy and horror, analyzing the conflicting natures of good and evil which exist within all individuals. Unlike many of Bradbury’s other novel-length works, such as Dandelion Wine and The Martian Chronicles, which are fix-ups, Something Wicked This Way Comes is a single full-length narrative.

  4. Giant rabbit… When I was
Giant rabbit… When I was about 5, my younger sister and I shared a bed. At that time, we lived in an old farmhouse several miles out of town. I woke up one night and realized that my sister was missing, and in her place was a large rabbit. I was not dreaming, and I have never forgotten it. I remember drawing the covers up over my head out of fear, and soon went back to sleep. I was seriously creeped out a few years ago when I was watching the TV series ‘Taken’ about alien abduction over generations in one family. There was one scene of a screen memory for one of the children where he saw a large white rabbit. My mother has told me that when we lived in that house, she woke up one night to find me stark naked and getting ready to go out the back door. When she asked me what i was doing, I told her that I was going to town! She guided me back to bed, and she attributed the event to sleep-walking, which it may well have been, but I have wondered if I was not going out the door, but coming back in, as we did not lock our doors. We only lived in that house for about a year, but I have always had very vivid memories from living there, and that it was somehow a very important year for me in terms of who I am today. I don’t really understand why I feel that way.

  5. Another great candid
Another great candid interview. Again in terms of “the other ” and childhood wondering if part of being open to it as a child has any correlation to the fontanelle of a child’s skull ,which allows the brain to develop and grow and literally making them “open” to the experience.

  6. It sounds like that bit in
It sounds like that bit in “taken” the series were that paramedic sees a circus coming down the road and you know that circus is a front for the aliens and a ufo eerie

  7. Another great show.
    Another great show.

  8. I have seen that dark blob on
I have seen that dark blob on the ceiling several times in my life. Sometimes it moves but usually I turn a light on and it is not visible, but I feel like it is still there.

  9. Yes, I remember in the
Yes, I remember in the ‘Taken’ TV series, that just before the Charlie Keys character was abducted, he would always see a weird traveller guy in a circus truck…that really did creep me out!

Also, prompted by what Cosmic had to say about that giant rabbit and a similar character also showing up in ‘Taken’, I was just doing a bit of research with regards to the symbolism of the Rabbit and I found a site that had this to say… “there is a vivid scene in the movie ET where a white rabbit is shown sitting in the forest before the ET is seen.”…now that is interesting…Spielberg again.

I think his movie / TV series research is probably deeper than most people realise.

Amongst other things, I found this from Wikipedea…”The Br’er Rabbit stories can be traced back to trickster figures in Africa…”. And another…””The pookah (Púca) takes many forms, but is most famous when he appears as a giant, six-foot white rabbit – which is the form most Americans know from the play and film, Harvey. Whatever form the pookah takes, he retains the special ability of his species, which is like that of Thoth in Egyptian legend, Coyote in Native American myth or Hanuman the Divine Monkey in Hindu lore – he can move us from one universe, or Belief System, into another, and he likes to play games with our ideas about ‘reality’. From “Cosmic Trigger Volume 2” by Robert Anton Wilson.

    1. Sherbet…It gets even
Sherbet…It gets even stranger with Spielberg in terms of his movies. I had a series of visions during meditation and also numerous synchronicities involving the Lakota legend of White Buffalo Calf Woman. During one vision, I remember being out on the prairie at night as a Native American woman. I saw a very bright light in the sky that slowly descended to Earth. When the light reached the ground, a being that I recognized as White Buffalo Calf Woman stepped out of the light (There is much more that I won’t go into here). Anyway, I began doing a lot research on this legend and being after I had so many odd experiences centered around her and The White Buffalo.

One of the things that I found out was that Bear Lodge Butte (Devil’s Tower) is said to be where White Buffalo Calf Woman gave the People the Sacred Pipe.

      http://www.nps.gov/deto/learn/historyculture/sacredsite.htm

So, did Steven Spielberg choose Devil’s Tower for a specific reason for ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind ‘,or just because it it was easy to render out of a pile of mashed potatoes for dramatic effect? 🙂

When I found out this information about Devil’s Tower, it blew me away, especially in light of my own odd experiences. I also gained even more insight into Spielberg and his connection to all of this in terms of affecting our consciousness. There are rumors about his connection to UFOs and being an ‘insider’, that I feel have a thread of truth running through them as well.

Just another somewhat amusing aside…Everyone tells me that my boyfriend of 6 years looks like Steven Spielberg, so I just made THAT connection in this moment!

      1. There is some fascinating
There is some fascinating information in that link – thanks!

I just found this extract from a book called Wonders of the Sky by Fred Schaaf…”One American Indian legend says that seven maidens were chased up a mountain by two enormous bears whose claws on the mountain’s sides turned into the peculiar formation we now call Devil’s Tower (Wyoming). But the maidens were saved by being lifted up to heaven to become the Pleiades. Did Steven Spielberg know that the people in his movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind were not the first to use this peak as a launch point for a voyage to the stars?”…

        …Of course he knew!

…but then again, it is really easy to sculpture out of mash…oh, I’m on the fence again 🙂

I have heard too, the rumblings of Spielberg having insider knowledge of one degree or another. It always makes me wonder whether his Space / ET related movies are on some level ‘art imitating life’…as he has discovered / understands it to be, at least.

  10. Anybody else have the power
Anybody else have the power circles going outward, slowly, slowly? I have these usually when I’m relaxed or contemplative. I don’t think they are eye manifistations or hallucinations. They are like power rings going out, going out slowly, rhythmically, very relaxing actually.

    1. I see Rings Of Fire… In the
I see Rings Of Fire… In the Blackness, One for each eye. my eyes closed They Loom before me… Goldish Reddish Fire smoldering and burning very brightly. They seem to be Turning Clockwise..

I was ‘messed with’ at least a few times..
      Always I wonder:

      UFO Experience here…

Well we were living in California. We had just moved to Agoura which was between Thousand Oaks and Callabassas. Our condo was on a hillside quiet and at the peak of a hill. I was asleep when When I was awoken by the sounds of little footsteps. I figured they were animals but was a bit puzzled as there were quite a few pairs of footsteps I was hearing . It must be an awful Lot of Possums or whatever. I sat upright as the footsteps seemed to be ‘all over‘ the roof.. I started thinking there was too much activity to just be animals. I looked at the door in my bedroom and I thought I would have a heart attack. Sweat began pouring off me at an alarming rate. Just at the doors crack peering around the wall through the open slat off the door was a praying mantis at least 4-5 feet tall. It was a tan Grey sort of skin to it and I was clearly not ready to be seeing anything at my bedroom door. I quickly realized this was no insect but was a life form from somewhere else. I was as a Deer in the headlights. I was transfixed in absolute terror. It seemed to go on forever. After some time I found whatever was at the door had left and I lay back down and tried to go to sleep. I was so wet I got out of the bed for a little while so it would dry out. The ‘face’ looked just like the Grey in Whitley Strieber’s book ‘Communion’. I was pretty disappointed in my reaction as I had been waiting my whole life for an intro to this reality, and when it presented itself to me I was None too ready. I would hope if given another chance I would do better next time out…

  11. Hi thunderandlight, sometimes
Hi thunderandlight, sometimes when I am relaxed and close my eyes, I get these slow deep purple concentric rings expanding outwards…if I concentrate on them for a while they eventually go, my vision becomes a uniform dark grey and my mind is very nearly silent…a great feeling.

On a different subject, once when I was meditating quite deeply, I opened my eyes and for several seconds I saw this strange insect bug thing about four inches long, with eight legs or so, crawling slowly up the wall in front of me…it wasn’t completely solid but more like the effect of that invisibility cloak in the Predator movies…very weird.

  12. thunderandlight — cld be you
thunderandlight — cld be you pulsating within/into the universe . . . (concentric circles).

Stephan’s interview with Jeremy sure has sparked some sharing 🙂 Enjoyed the show a lot. Black blobs — I see them almost every night. I see them in the daytime, too — I have ever since I was 6 or 7, or that’s as far as I remember back seeing them. I think they are 2 dimensional shapes flitting thru our world but not everyone picks up on whatever wavelength they are on with their eyes. Are portals 2 dimensional constructions?

My mom used to see the milk wagon turn into a circus wagons when she was little. She didn’t like it. It scared her. I agree with Cyan — very disconcerting — one wonders how many children disappear following such illusions. I, personally, don’t think children have very complex imaginations. However, they have less experience with being conditioned to accept a particular worldview/paradigm.

I think that Rainbow Dude is you, Stephan.
