We recentlywrote that “After a period of exceptionally high activityin the 20th century, our sun has suddenly gone exceptionallyquiet?Astronomers are waiting for the sunspots to return andmark the start of the next, the so-called cycle 24. Theyhave been waiting for a while now with no sign it’s on itsway any time soon.” Well, solar cycle 24 has started! Howwill it affectglobal warming?

Solar physicist David Hathaway says, “New solar cyclesalways begin with a high-latitude, reversed polarity sunspot.”

The "Earth moon machine" may be the reason there is life on this planet. Now astronomers have discovered that the sun may save us from extinction. Can all this be an accident?

The moon came about after a gigantic collision with the earth during the formation of the solar system, when a huge object struck the planet, leaving a crater that is now the Pacific Ocean. The result is that the moon was found by our lunar astronauts to be made up of a mixture of earth and other material.

The sun’s warm rays can not only give you skin cancer, they can also PEVENT it! Now that fall is here, if you’re not getting out in the sun as much as you did in the summer, you also may not be getting enough vitamin D. A recent study shows a direct link between vitamin D and cancer prevention.

Researcher Joan Lappe warns that this is a danger for you if you live in North American at latitudes above the 37th parallel (Omaha is near the 41st parallel). However, we can get vitamin D from several sources other than sunlight.

The sun is in the most unusual state that has ever been observed. At a time when it should be recording greatly diminished sunspot activity, the most active sunspot ever observed has just finished crossing its face. The largest solar flare ever recorded–by far–exploded out of this sunspot on November 4.

This extraordinary event wasn’t headline news. In fact, it didn’t even make the back pages of most papers and news websites, let alone the broadcast news. Unknowncountry, Earthfiles and the NASA and NOAA sites were the only places where it was really featured as a major news item.
