Circling high above us in space, a mysterious object is being tracked by the US military. The strange object, which has been entitled Object 2014-28E, was secretly launched in May by the Russian military, but nobody knows its purpose and so far Moscow’s ministry of defence is remaining tight-lipped.

2014-28E first came to the attention of the world when it was sighted recently by amateur astronomers. It was initially thought to be space debris originally sent into space by Russia to add communication satellites to existing military space hardware, but its behavior has since been so unorthodox that there are now concerns that it could form part of a more sinister plan, concerns fuelled by the fact that Russia did not declare its launch.

The X-37B, the U.S. Air Force’s secret robotic space plane, has now been in orbit for almost 500 days, a record-breaking time period for space endurance. The latest version of the relatively tiny spacecraft, which is just one quarter of the size of the space shuttles, was launched in December 2012 on a top-secret mission.

The X-37B has a payload bay approximately the size of a pickup truck bed, and it is thought to be carrying highly sensitive cargo. It began its life as a NASA project to build a small, unmanned space plane, then the project was passed over to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in 2004. A lack of funds prompted a further handover to the U.S. Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office, which is continuing to manage the X-37B program.

Canadian inventor Vincent Tao has developed a method bywhich anybody with a web browser can become a high tech spy.

The engineer at York University in Toronto says that hismapping and surveillance tool can produce images so sharpthat the makes of cars can be discerned, as can the clothingpeople are wearing, although not the details of their faces.

SAME (see anywhere, map anywhere) combines satellite imagesof the earth with real-time imagery from traffice andweather cameras. The resolution is an astounding two feet, according to the inventor.

He claims that it will be possible to zoom from a globalscale to a street level image, updated in real time and inhigh resolution.
