Just fifty years ago, on February 20, 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower mysteriously disappeared. At first, the Associated Press even released a story that he had died. A few minutes later, it was changed to a visit to the dentist. But that story wasn’t true. Not even the dentist he allegedly visited would say he’d actually been there, and there is no record of the visit in the Eisenhower Library. In 1999, Whitley Strieber wrote a 43 page outline of a possible work of speculative fiction about what happened. Strong publisher prejudice against the UFO subject meant that the novel was never bought by a publishing house, but the outline remains as a gripping study of what might have been.
