Since my special has aired, I have been getting a lot of questions about whether or not the visitors are “real.” I put that word in quotation marks for a reason. It is because it seems quite doubtful to me that we are going to be able to determine that in the same way that we can determine whether or not a stone is real.

Look at the 1996 NASA video. It shows some seemingly real objects, including one that even appears to have running lights pulsating on it. But then something with a tail almost like a tadpole goes speeding out of the lights of a city. Subsequently, a doughnut-shaped object, appearing almost like a plasma, comes up out of the clouds and moves slowly past.

Even though my special hasn’t yet been seen, I’m already getting outraged e-letters about it. There’s even a website that condemns it as “probably just another skeptic’s hatchet job.” Some are screaming at me for having Philip Klass on the program, others for having David Jacobs, others for daring to mention implants.

Well, all of a sudden it’s the new year and I am back from three weeks in Europe, most of which I spent flat on my back with the flu. However, I did get to meet Msgr. Corrado Balducci, thanks to the kind assistance of German UFO investigator Michael Hessemann. I confirmed that the interview with Msgr. Balducci that appears in Confirmation is absolutely accurate, and that he never told anybody that there was a papal commission studying UFOs, or that papal nuncios regularly report to the Vatican on the subject. He was mystified about how any such tale could have been attributed to him. I wasn’t: I know the internet all too well.

The “Confirmation” Special is finished. It will be the first UFO special on a major network, and it is going to offer an objective look at the phenomenon. The skeptics get to state their case clearly and forcefully, and so do the believers. Nobody is trashed or treated with disrespect. And why should they be? Not a single soul who appears on the show is in any way insincere. They are all trying hard to get at the truth.
