Do plants possess a consciousness? – A philosophy of science professor at the University of Murcia, in Spain, is trying to devise new ways to answer this seemingly unanswerable question. Although they lack something like the brain and nervous system that animals possess, many plant species physically react to their
The results of a new series of experiments suggests that microscopic structures within the brain could support the concept of quantum consciousness, an idea put forward by University of Arizona professor Dr. Stuart Hameroff and Nobel Laureate Sir Roger Penrose in the 1990s. These findings “could provide the foundations for scientists to experimentally test the
Scientists have announced that a river in northern Canada has been dramatically re-routed due to the effects of global warming. Meltwater from the Yukon territory’s Kaskawulsh glacier, formerly flowing north into the Yukon River via the Slims River, now flows south into the Alsek River, emptying into the Pacific Ocean. The event underscores how rapidly potential changes can happen when systems that are affected by climate change reach their tipping points.
On November 29th, officials involved with the New Safe Confinement (NSC) project gathered near the site of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, to celebrate the installation of the massive NSC structure over top of the plant’s aging containment building. The NSC building, meant to isolate the entire power plant from the surrounding environment for the next century, required a major feat of engineering to bring into being.
