NASA UFO hacker Gary McKinnon was about to be extradited to the US for trial as a terrorist, since he lost his appeal in the House of Lords, but he has now gotten a temporary reprieve. US prosecutors have offered him a 4 year sentence if he pleads guilty, but if he doesn’t, they’ll try to convict him for the full 70-year sentence. If he’s tried as a terrorist, he could even end up in Guantanemo. On a search for covert UFO information, he hacked into US military computer data from 2001-2002, so he may have come across secret information about 911, which may be the reason the US is coming down on him so hard.
In the August 13th edition of the Tech Herald, Steve Ragan reports that McKinnon’s lawyers have now taken his case to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, which is on vacation at the moment, so his extradition has been postponed until August 28, when the court hearings resume. In the meantime, he can remain in the UK.
