In quantum physics (NOTE: Subscribers can still listen to this show), two linked particles, once they are separated, follow the exact same fate, no matter how far apart they are. This is called "quantum entanglement" and it could open the door to time travel.

In Wired.com, Lisa Grossman quotes researcher S. Jay Olson as saying, "You can send your quantum state into the future without traversing the middle time. It’s not time travel as you would ordinarily think of it, where it’s like, POOF! You’re in the future, but you get to skip the intervening time." In fact, two Australian researchers say they’ve discovered a new type of entanglement that extends, not through space, but through time. Grossman quotes researcher Ivette Fuentes as saying that Olson’s work is "one of the most interesting results" published in the last year. "It stimulated our imaginations. We know entanglement is a resource and we can do very interesting things with it, like quantum teleportation and quantum cryptography. We might be able to exploit this new entanglement to do interesting things."

Scientists have already learned how to use entanglement to create codes that’s can’t be deciphered and to build superfast computers. In the future, we may figure out how to store information in black holes.

Sometimes we think our readers and listeners–who claim to love us so much–must have been sucked into a black hole, because they don’t seem to recognize the stark NON quantum truth: If you don’t support us today, we won’t be here tomorrow.
