Researchers used to think that marijuana was the "entrance drug" that lead to taking "hard" drugs, such as cocaine and heroin. But now they think it’s coffee (and if you’re "hooked" on java, be sure to drink it out of a Dreamland mug!) And new research shows that caffeine may help ward off skin cancer.

According to a new study that examined responses to stimulants, your response to caffeine may predict how your will respond to other stimulant drugs, possibly identifying your risk for drug abuse. Psychiatrist Stacey Sigmon says, "People differ dramatically in how they respond to drugs. For example, a single dose of a drug can produce completely opposite effects in two people, with one absolutely loving and the other hating the drug’s effects. It is important to improve our understanding of these differences, as they may reflect key individual differences in vulnerability or resilience for drug abuse."

When Whitley first started seeing the Visitors, he thought he was going crazy or had a brain tumor. He KNEW it wasn’t a drug flashback, since he’d never taken drugs. Later he realized that his encounters with the Grays, which he wrote about in Communion, brought him great wisdom and insight. Both "The Grays" and "Communion" are hard to find in bookstores, but you can get BOTH of them from the Whitley Strieber Collection, and they’ll come with an autographed bookplate designed by Whitley.

And if you want to be among the FIRST to read his sequel to Communion, "Solving the Communion Enigma," you can pre-order it today. Once you have purchased the book, you’ll need to either forward the e-receipt or send as a jpg, screenshot (etc.) to the publisher. You will then receive an autoresponse that will include a link to a page where you can input your address. Tarcher will send a special "Communion Enigma" bookplate out to the recipients shortly before publication date. To learn more, click here.
