US Luger Kate Hansen taped a wolf wandering the hall of her hotel in Sochi. It could be a pet, but it is definitely a wolf, not a dog. There will be spin, however, and the wolf is likely to be recast as a nice old dog. No matter, it sure looks like a nice old wolf. Hopefully nice, anyway. The Loch Ness Monster is one of the most enduring legends of Scotland, bringing thousands of visitors to the country each year. A strange fate may have befallen our favourite cryptid, however, as there have not been any sightings of her since 2012.

It is claimed that one of the first recorded sightings of "Nessie," as the monster is affectionately known, was made by St. Columba in A.D. 565 when the saint scared away a huge aquatic beast that was preparing to attack a man in the Ness River, which flows into the lake. This tale has been thought by many, however, to be an allegorical story depicting the power of God overcoming the evil of Satan.

UPDATE! Speaking of waiting, I’m in the hospital after a fall downstairs caused by sudden instability that came about because my ventricular shunt, which controls pressure in my brain, had failed. (This happens to these things. It’s nothing to do with my tumor, which remains stable.) If there is any place that involves waiting, it’s a hospital. We wrote about this in Miraculous Journey, and this visit proved no exception to the rule. But once the waiting is over, the doctors can work their wonders. I would not be here today without doctors. They are my shamen.
