A near X-class solar flare that erupted on the sun on August 3rd has sent a powerful coronal mass ejection toward earth which has overtaken two previous CMEs and combined with them. Analysts at the GSFC Space Weather Lab believe that the combined triple-CME will reach earth around 6 AM US Pacific Time on August 5th, give or take a 7 hour window.

Being tall has been linked to a greater risk of 10 common cancers, and scientists can’t figure out why. They think it might be because tall people have more CELLS which can be invaded by the disease.

For every four inches above five feet in height, a person has a 16% increased risk of coming down with cancer. Statistics show that people in the tallest group, over 5 feet, 9inches, were 37% more likely to have developed a tumor than those in the shortest group, who were under 5 feet tall.

In BBC News, James Gallagher quotes researcher Jane Green as saying, "Obviously height itself cannot affect cancer, but it may be a marker for something else."

Easter Island, also known as Rapa Nui, is one of the world’s most isolated places, 1,500 miles from the nearest populated island in the Pacific. It contains almost no vegetation. When the Westerners visited the island, they were amazed at the gigantic statues that had been erected–almost a thousand of them–lined up, gazing out at the sea. Some of them weigh as much as 75 tons. But what amazed them even more was that the 3,000 islanders didn’t seem to know where these gigantic stone figures had COME FROM.
