Do you remember your Dad as being a dominant male? There’s something in the faces of brown-eyed white men that makes them seem more dominant than blue-eyed men, and it ISN’T their eye color.

Researchers asked a group of over 60 people to look at photos of 80 faces: 40 men and 40 women, and rate them for dominance. They then altered the faces on a computer so the brown eyes were replaced with blue ones and vice versa. A separate group of participants rated the altered images for dominance.

More and more, I’m being asked the question, why don’t the visitors intervene in one or another catastrophe? Most recently, the question has taken on much greater intensity: why don’t they help us clean up the BP spill?

These are fair questions, and they have clear answers. First, the visitors do not have a relationship with the human species, except on an individual basis. The US and British governments, working in concert, have, time and again, presented a hostile face to them by sending up armed aircraft at every opportunity, and in some cases actually firing weapons at them.

My new book the Omega Point comes out on June 22, and I must say, it seems a very odd time for it.

The story revolves around changes on the sun that are gradually making life on earth impossible, and it asks the questions, what is the last judgment, and, more importantly, is there a plan for us?

This week’s New Scientist came in the mail, and I was shocked to see that the cover story is “What’s Wrong with the Sun?”

Not that the article says that the sun is about to do something awful, but it just feels like a sort of warning of some kind that maybe there is such a thing as an end to this world of ours, perhaps not tomorrow and perhaps not in 2012, but that it could come.
