When and where did sending cards, flowers and candy to loved ones on Valentines Day start? It’s obvious that this holiday is encouraged by retailers, who stand to make a lot of money from selling people things they wouldn’t otherwise buy. There’s even a good reason for giving chocolates for Valentines Day?they’re a substitute for sex.

The idea of a day set aside to honor loved ones goes way back…to the ancient Chinese, the Romans and the Egyptians. All these cultures exchanged messages of love during New Year’s celebrations. Declaring your love was a major part of the culture of the Roman Empire, but this was done in March, not February. But it started out as a day to honor the dead.

A new tomb has been discovered in Egypt by an archeological team from the University of Memphis (Tennessee), just a few feet away from the famous tomb of Tutankhamun that was unearthed in 1922. This one contains five mummies, along with many valuable artifacts. Since looting has been going on almost since Egyptian mummies were first being entombed, finding an unlooted burial chamber like this is amazing. Since the tomb is small and square, archeologists don’t think it is the tomb of a pharaoh like Tut, but it could be the tomb of some of Tut?s relatives.

Earlier this week, there was a six hour UFO event over Milan, the longest continuous UFO event over a major city in history. Whitley Strieber will interview Italian UFO investigator Paola Harris about this potentially important event, as well as her investigations of the Tall White phenomenon, including her interviews with other witnesses who supported Charles Hall’s claims. Then Linda interviews a former NORAD employee who tells of tracking UFOs and having the records taken by specialized personnel.
