The following story was read in Arabic over the official Iraqi government TV network on November 1st:

?Saudi opposition sources announced yesterday that Al-Queda activists, led by Saudi opposition figure Osama Bin Ladin, said by telephone that an attack is being prepared against the United States that will take place before mid November.

?This comes at a time when the United States announced a state of maximum alert. U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft warned on Monday [October 29] that armed terrorists may launch an attack on the United States itself or on American interests abroad within a few weeks.

The Taliban is secretly receiving military and other supplies from Pakistan, according to U.S. officials. The goods, including ammunition and fuel, are being sent with the help of some officials in the Pakistani government.

Government officials, speaking anonymously, say the trade is approved by officials of the Pakistani military and the Inter-Services Intelligence service (ISI). The ISI is said to have close ties with the Taliban regime.

The U.S. is filled with legends about strange, unidentified creatures. One of these is known as the Loveland Frog. In the early hours of Feb. 3, 1972, Loveland police officer Ray Shockey pulled over to investigate a strange animal on the banks of the Little Miami River.

The creature stood about 3 feet tall, with dark scaly skin and a face like a frog. Shockey made eye contact with it before it leaped over the guardrail and vanished into the murky water below.

A week later, patrolman Mark Mathews saw a large slithery thing near the same spot. When it made a move towards him, Mathews pulled out his gun and fired at it, causing it to fall into the river. While the remains of the creature were never found.

A family of farmers in the Mexican state of Chihuahua say the mysterious vampire-like creatures known as ?chupacabras? or ?goat suckers? killed and sucked the blood of more than 60 of their sheep in the weeks before Halloween.

Notimex, the state news agency, reported that Ramiro Parra Gonzalez discovered 35 dead sheep. All were found without a drop of blood in their bodies, similar to cattle mutilations, and with two small bite marks on their necks. Parra Gonzalez says he heard the dogs that sleep in his fields every night to guard his flock begin to howl around midnight. A few minutes later he heard them running for their lives. ?I thought it was probably a fox,? he says.
