The solar storm now striking the earth consists mostly of protons and could put space travelers and some air travelers at risk of receiving health-threatening radiation doses.

Current Mass Ejection The earth’s atmosphere and magnetic field protect life on the ground, but air travelers, according to NOAA, could receive as much as ten times more radiation than a chest X-ray during the storm, which is expected to last through the weekend.

As predicted, world media is eagerly using the Matthew Williams crop circle hoax story to disinform the public about these enigmatic formations.

The fairy tales that began in the British media a few days ago have spread as far afield as Australia, and may be expected to appear soon in the United States unless the story is pushed aside by election coverage.

The gist of the coverage is that the existence of Mr. Williams’s hoaxed crop circle proves that all the formations are hoaxes. No attempt at all is being made to refer to any of the serious research that has been done into the actual origin of the formations.

Whitley Strieber will be a Featured Author at the 2000 Texas Book Festival in Austin, Texas. He will speak from 3:15 to 4:00PM in the Senate Chamber of the Texas State Capitol at Austin. He will be signing books from 4:15 until 5:00PM in the Texas Book Fair Signing Tent.

In a letter publicized Friday Hopi cultural affairs preservation officers asked John Kimmey of Taos, NM, to cease calling himself a “carrier of Hopi prophecy” and to no longer reveal Hopi secret teachings.

The letter said, “The Hopi people have suffered immensely due to the insensitive nature by which so-called experts exploit our knowledge.”

Kimmey, a non-Indian member of the Native American Church, asserts that ancient Hopi prophecies are meant to be shared with the public. He claims that Hopi elder David Monongye taught him the prophecies and gave him permission to reveal them to the public. Monongye has since died.
