Object in Martian Sky Photographed by Curiosity

This image was made by the Curiosity Rover. To see more, click here. The object does not appear to be a video dropout. It is something in the Martian sky. There are probably many ways to dismiss it, but the fact remains that if this was a photo taken of something in Earth's atmosphere, it would be assumed to be a plane with a short contrail. Conceivably, it's a meteor, but it could also be an unknown.

Very interesting video. If it's Phobos or Deimos, would it have a contrail associated with it? I don't think so. Could it be Jupiter just happening to be situated where a small cloud is in the otherwise perfectly clear Martian sky? Perhaps...

Interesting that the object seems to be just beyond the limits of resolution to make a positive ID. I think a close approach of a structured craft to the lander's camera would be a great and subtly humorous method of first contact by the 'aliens', should they choose to take the initiative. But would NASA let us see that?
