Latest Out There Stories
The Out There section collects stories about strange events from all over the internet.
Videos and some other stories are graded:
A--Probably true, B--Likely true, C--Likely false, D--Probably false.

Stories are not researched by Unknowncountry.com staff before posting and video evaluations are based on experienced observation, not video analysis.

This remarkable object was taped first through a camera with a zoom lens, then through a Meade telescope. The image captured through the telescope is quite extraordinary and too strange to speculate about, beyond saying that it is a likely unknown. The videographer, Jeremy Thomas, provides details about exactly how the videos were made and adds the comment that these 'common objects' deserve scientific study rather than denial. A fine effort on Mr. Thomas's part, of a kind that we need more of.

This object seemed to have come down much more slowly than a meteor, and not to have followed a ballistic trajectory. Whatever it was, it was clearly on fire and in some sort of trouble. There is no record of any aircraft going down in the region.

Not only did two crop formations appear in the same Brazilian town on the same day, researchers have offered a large cash reward to anybody who can prove them to be fakes. So, all you skeptics, get on the next plane and go for that twenty grand!

This video was taken on November 17 during one of the tornadoes that struck Indiana. The object is not a balloon and makes some movements that may not be aerodynamic, slipping along parallel to the ground at :42 seconds, then accelerating at :52 seconds in a way that suggests an internal power source.

Glowing orange orbs are being reported worldwide, not in huge numbers, but frequently enough to suggest that the phenomenon is on the rise. On Dreamland on October 11, two friends of the Striebers described seeing similar orbs rising up out of Santa Monica Bay a few days before. Around the same time, Whitley Strieber observed a silver orb in daylight.

This case
, from Hertfordshire in England, includes an excellent photo of something that is clearly not a sky lantern, given the intensity of the glow. The observer also took a shot of the moon to compare the two.

The triangle formation seen here is a typical nighttime UFO formation. Prior to her abduction, Corrina Saebels observed such a formation in the sky over British Columbia, and many others have seen such formations, especially people reporting subsequent close encounters. In this case, the three lights fade away one by one at the end of the observation. The lights are not on the corners of a solid object because stars can be seen behind them. Probable unknown.

Between 2007 and 2009, a remarkable UFO appeared a number of times over Kumbergaz, Turkey. There was a great deal of video made, and US UFO researchers Dr. Roger Leir was among the witnesses who personally observed the object. Now a strikingly similar UFO has been photographed in Australia. While the Kumbergaz UFO at one point seemed to have figures visible in it, the same space in the Australian UFO is empty. The Kumbergaz UFO was an unusual form, and it is remarkable to see it again. It appeared for two years in Turkey. Already another group of witnesses has seen it on a second night in Australia. This is a likely unknown. (The Australian UFO is on the left, the Turkish one on the right.)

It is possible--just--that this is a release of balloons, but there are things that happen to it, such as the detachment and reattachment of fragments of the material that suggest that it really is something very, very strange. Frankly, I can't even speculate beyond saying that maybe it's some sort of insect colony. If it's an alien, I'd be fascinated to see what the world it came from looks like. I think that this is the single strangest video Out There has ever posted.
It was sent to us by an alert reader.

The comment reads, in English: "Cannot be identified, caught in forest, turning in several different ways. Strange creature, humanoid alien, ufo ovni."

Most Out There stories are about UFOs, bigfoot and other mysteries. It's not often that we get a story of a miracle this extraordinary, and especially in view of the site's last weekender, I thought that it definitely qualifies for inclusion here. A woman's SUV was sinking in flood waters in the recent Colorado storms, and she was saved at the last minute. But there's quite a kicker. Watch the video to the end and prepare to be amazed. Given all the evidence, and Whitley's wonderful story of his own rescue by a guardian angel in the weekender, I have to say that your cynical old Out There editor is willing to say, while not proof of guardian angels, this does appear to be a genuine unknown.

Finally, a real sighting. This object was observed and photographed by an amateur astronomer and seen by many thousands of witnesses two nights in a row. It is an authentic unknown for the following reasons: 1, it was seen by many witnesses; 2, an astronomer (amateur, in this case) observed it through a telescope and noted anomalous characteristics such as color change that would be very hard to accomplish with a lighted balloon or quadcopter; 3, it did not fade out or suddenly disappear, but rather darted off, as noted by the astronomer.

At present, the internet is filling up with the latest in hoaxes: the lighted quadcopter being flown at night. They're easily identifiable and, frankly, to someone like your Out There editor, another reminder of just how moronic the hoaxers are, and how dull their output is.

This is the first time I have seen a video of anything that looked like this. If it's real, you'd think that most of its life would be, to say the least, inconvenient. But who am I to say, your mere Out There editor? Whatever this is, it qualifies as being 'out there,' no question about that. I've sent the link to our video experts and will add their responses.

Two of our experts have weighed in:

Expert One: It's fake. The contrived camera shake is even faker than the critter.

Expert Two: I don't know, looks pretty good to me. Big bug.

A mother feeding her baby at 5:20 AM in the UK spotted a bright light hovering in the sky. When it didn't move off, she took a picture of it, with the result that you see here. Read the full story in the Watford Observer. Classification: Unknown object.

This appears to be a good video from Russia. Interestingly, unlike English-language videos which are monitored by US intelligence agencies, the comments below this one appear to be from normal, open-minded people. We have found that a great number of YouTube trolls that make disparaging comments about UFO videos in English are actually phantom accounts apparently created by American intelligence agencies. They don't appear to bother with Russian posts, at least not yet. This is classified as a probable unknown.

This is almost certainly an authentic video. It's a reminder of just how much high-level strangeness unfolds in the world around us, that we almost never see. One wonders what might be behind these lights, what sort of mission it might have been on, and where it went. Probable unknown.

An aeronautical engineer has taken a snapshot showing two clear UFOs over the River Dart in Devon. He had the camera examined and found that there was no dust on the sensor. Nine seconds after the objects appeared, they were gone. He knows this because he took two shots nine seconds apart. He did not see the UFOs when he was taking the pictures. Normally, UFO photos come in the form of blurs, but these are very clearly round objects, not birds or planes. Probable unknown.

Your Out There editor hears that UFO sightings and close encounters are becoming more and more common. There is no reason to doubt this aeronautical engineer's report.
Given all the strange noises being heard since early 2012, this story is particularly interesting. A UFO, then a terrifying rumble and localized earthquake. There is no reason to disbelieve this story. Probable unknown with unusual sonic effects.

This is a remarkable video. One of our photo analysts has looked at it and confirms that it is almost certainly authentic, not a CGI or other effect. Midway into the video something appears below the orb that seems to be a humanoid figure. However, the resolution is too low for us to be absolutely certain what it is. We are in contact with the videographer and hope to study this further. This is a probable unknown. On the other hand, another Unknowncountry reader sent us this video of a quadcopter "UFO" saying that the colored lights are a 'dead giveaway.' There is no way to tell whether or not the original video is a quadcopter, not given the resolution available.

Your ever-cynical Out There editor would have dismissed this as a bit of debris flying in the wind, but there is the suggestion that it's flapping its tattered wings. Hope nobody gets carried away...

This interesting object was videotaped through a telescope at 5:30 in the morning after the witness noticed an unusual looking light in the sky. One YouTuber comments that it's a defocused star. If so, it's a very unusual defocusing. Probable unknown.

Unmentioned in the description of this object are two bright orbs moving toward it while blinking on and off in the first few seconds of the video. The object itself is not a sundog and it doesn't look like a CGI job. Possible unknown.
Allegedly two different witnesses photographed this object overhead in Stroud in the UK. It's not near any famous UK UFO hotspots, the nearest one being Warminster 50 miles away. It would be an easy matter to fake this shot, but I'm going with it as a possible unknown for two reasons. The first is that a second witness is apparently involved. The second is that it appears somewhat similar to some other low-level shots that have been taken over the years. So, if there really was a second witness, this is a genuine unknown. If not, it could be anything from a close up of a button to a plate or hubcap. The bigfoot face that appears in this video was identified months ago as a Chewbacca mask, according to researcher Loren Coleman. A close look does indeed reveal a close resemblance. And the 'dna study' mentioned has also had a checkered history. So what are we to make of all this? Fools? Con-men? One thing is true: there is not a lot of cash to be made off bigfoot fakery, so that's not the motive. Unless, of course, it's NOT a Chewbacca mask...

There are fireballs coming down all over the world right now, but this story from the Yucatan goes far beyond the normal report of a flaming meteor speeding across the sky, and, frankly, your Out There editor is just plain puzzled, not to say flabbergasted. Note that the report includes mention of a sound that went on for hours, not to mention the 'humanoid figure' the police created when trying to put the broken up remains of the object back together. The verdict on this one: I have no idea.

A number of readers have sent us this video of UFOs allegedly shot over Wittenberg, German on September 18. This does not appear to be a video shot using night vision equipment. The simple reason is that the background is too dark. Night vision systems gather all light, not just the light that happens to be emanating from an object. This shows every sign of being an animation. Most likely verdict: just another UFO trickster trolling for clickthroughs and making a little cash out of YouTube advertising. Tired, old, dreary. (If I'm wrong and somebody can prove it, I have a hat and am ready to eat.)

There have been rumors floating around among UFO investigators for some time that there is some new Roswell evidence. Unknowncountry has confirmed that the substance of the report in the blog linked here is correct, with one exception: CNN has not been contacted about this material. There is reason to hope that this new evidence will provide strong corroboration of the claims made by other Roswell witnesses, and will finally reveal the actual appearance of the bodies that were recovered from the crash.

The UFOs in this video could easily be CGI inclusions. Given the usual low resolution, there's basically no way to tell. The ship seems to be having a fire, but whatever happened, it wasn't enough to attract the interest of California's voracious news media. So who knows? The most interesting thing about the video is the comment from a probable fake YouTuber, 'Lulzim Ademi.' Apparently he's never done anything except add the comment 'UFO my ass' to this video. So, is he real or a product of the massive social engineering effort to create the impression (false) that the public is hostile to UFOs? There are literally hundreds of these characters on YouTube.

This video, taken last April, remains unexplained. It's a good example of a probable unknown. It's moving too fast to be a blimp, it's not close to the camera, and it shows not the slightest evidence of wings or a tail. Probable unknown.
Dreamland guests Rob and Trish MacGregor had a UFO sighting in Jupiter, Florida on the night of September 21. They report that the orange-colored orbs they observed did not blink or flicker out, suggesting that they probably weren't candle lanterns. Although it is hard to judge from a photo, such lanterns do not rise very far into the sky, and these lights appear to be well above the horizon. Possible unknowns.

On September 18, 1973, Jimmy Carter reported seeing a UFO. He promised, when elected president, to end the UFO coverup and release the UFO files. He was elected. He didn't release the files and he didn't end the coverup. He's been asked about that many times. Try it, he'll say he won't talk about the subject. Why? Because THERE IS A COVERUP and it's way bigger than a mere president. End of story.
