Latest Out There Stories
The Out There section collects stories about strange events from all over the internet.
Videos and some other stories are graded:
A--Probably true, B--Likely true, C--Likely false, D--Probably false.

Stories are not researched by staff before posting and video evaluations are based on experienced observation, not video analysis.

This Mexican UFO was dismissed as a meteor, despite its unusual configuration. Now a similar object has been seen over Georgia.

Watch the second light that appears in front of the storm. Just as it disappears into the top of the screen, the wings and running lights become clear. It's a plane.
Two aerial shots of this crop formation at Honeystreet near Alton Barnes show it incomplete and then complete. It's unusual but not unknown for formations to be added to, but very unusual for one to be seen clearly unfinished, then later finished. The formation is also very challenging, and unlike those known to be created by human circle makers. The complexity of the design and the subtle crafting suggest that this may be of unknown origin.

The reason is the frantic dog! When UFOs are close by, dogs often become extremely agitated. This would also suggest that there may already be visitors on the ground. It is often true that a close sighting like this is accompanied by ground activities of various kinds. We will try to contact the poster of this video.
This witness reports a UFO very similar to what was observed over Gulf Breeze Florida for many years.

The first video may be a reflection, of course, but not the second. Thank God the videographer didn't add cheezy music! Pretty interesting, especially the second video.

Two of the most extraordinary crop formations to appear in recent years relate Ea and Enki in ASCII code, along with a wealth of other symbols still under interpretation. These formations are too elaborate and perfectly executed to be hoaxes. They appeared in Italy near Turin. Perhaps it is coincidental that they showed up near one of the greatest and most controversial Christian shrines--but then again, they are also 'great' in terms of crop formations, and, as such, are also controversial. Linda Moulton Howe's Earthfiles report is excellent.
This enormous object was seen over Koreatown near downtown Los Angeles, but there have been few reports of it. Just goes to show you how rarely people happen to look up! If you live in the LA area, keep your cameras handy, because things like this often reappear over the days and weeks after the first sighting.

The detailed opinion of one of our analyists appears in our video section. This video has excited a lot of people, but it's likely a hoax.

Certainly this is one of the most amazing and unusual mirages ever recorded.

A whale, maybe? Strange story, but coming from the Sun, it's automatically suspect.

This is far from the first time this has happened. When it took place in Russia, it so frightened them that they dismantled the entire command center where it had occurred, because it nearly caused them to pull the trigger. We should perhaps consider ourselves warned.

This appears to be a simple video of a skyline, but according to witnesses, the area where the city appears is actually a forest and there is no city there. If so, this is a spectacular and inexplicable mirage. A mirage is caused when light from a distant location is refracted to another place. However, mirages are usually a short-lived phenomenon and rarely as detailed as this one.

Suddenly, a lot of UFO activity after a quiet period.
It's fairly rare for UFOs to appear on successive occasions in the same location. It happened regularly in Gulf Breeze Florida in the 1990s, and an object appeared over Camarillo, Californa six Thanksgivings in a row. We will be watching to see if the Fairfax sightings continue.

At least they're trying to do something reasonable instead of 'losing' all their relevant UFO files, which is how the US, the UK and Australia are continuing the coverup.

Of course this could be a magnified star, but this video appears to be an authentic unknown.

This photo was taken by one of the Mars rovers. It was immediately debunked as a trick of light and explained that this was obvious in the stereo image. However, the stereo image, which we looked at, only confirmed that the object was an anomaly of the first order. The rover took no more photos of the object, or, if it did, they have not been released. If this is not a person in a heat-absorbing suit leaping to cover, then it must be a statue. It is not a trick of light, a video inclusion or anything other than what it appears to be. Graded A.

A video of a supposed "Mars Base" found on Google Mars has been burning up the blogosphere. Unfortunately, it is not an image at all, but a digital imaging dropout caused by long distance transmission. Image files contain a certain amount of redundant data that's used for error correction. When the data stream loses its integrity, the error-correction algorithms retrieve this redundant data and attempt to reconstruct each block. If there's not enough extra data to provide a complete reconstruction, what will result is a partial or "confused" reconstruction. That's what you're seeing in those blocks that are both lighter and darker than the surrounding areas. (The lightest areas represent a complete absence of useful data.)

In trying to interpret these kinds of images we have to distinguish between what our eyes are actually seeing and what our minds may project.  When you're trained in photography one of the many things you notice (that most people don't notice consciously) is the behavior of light. Light from a single source (in this case, the Sun) throws shadows in only one direction -- but in this case the lighter blocks are surrounded by darker blocks in all directions, so they can't be shadows cast by a three-dimensional object.

OpenMinds does an outstanding job in general. This article is well done. More people should use night vision equipment to video the night sky. It may be that a great deal of previously unnoticed activity will be revealed. Unless these objects are spy craft that are not using FAA approved running lights, they are not only mysterious, their numbers suggest that whoever is here is really out in force. However, be aware that, as the article points out, birds can present a mysterious appearance to an infrared camera. They are relatively easy to distinguish, however, as long as the videographer has a good idea of what they look like using night vision equipment. A video of birds in flight is provided for comparison.
