This is probably not a balloon, but what else could it be? Perhaps a Chinese inventor with a spectacular new personal flight system...or something very much stranger?

At 2:14 a dark round object moves from left to right across this video of a dramatic fireworks display in Taiwan. It is present in all of the videos of the event that we've been sent. The object could be a balloon, but its trajectory suggests controlled movement, so it qualifies as an unknown.

Of course, these would be easy to create in the comuter, but it seems less likely that a hoaxer would go to such pains to make them appear to be blurred like this--or, for that matter, why they are blurred, given that the other objects in the frame are not. Distortion like this has been observed in other UFO photos.

This OpenMinds article points out that the UFO seen surrounded by a cloud in Russia is quite similar to one seen in Mexico, and shows side by side photos.

This one is pretty standard until 2:15 in, when the object suddenly explodes, leaving residue in the sky. It is just possible that this is some sort of balloon, but it appears to be lit from within, which would make it a very unusual one. We are sending this to our video experts for analysis and their responses will be posted in the Unknowncountry.com video section.

31 years ago today, on the third night of the Rendlesham Forest UFO incident, Col. Walter Halt made a tape of events as they took place. It is worth listening to again. It is also worth nothing that the British Ministry of Defense said last year that all records of the Rendlesham Forest UFO Incident had disappeared from their records. Also, Whitley Strieber's December 26, 1985 close encounter took place five years to the day after the beginning of the Rendlesham Forest incident.

There are two unusual objects in this video. The most obvious is an orange blinking light that becomes a dark object as it appears to draw closer to the camera. The second appears like a moving star in the upper part of the frame.

This object also appears to be emitting some sort of a mist. Could it be a much smaller example of the mist surrounding the object videotaped over Moscow a few days previously?

This one is quite strange. It's moving too fast to be a celestial object and it certainly isn't a plane. A true unknown.

This object appears to be a plane, and yet it is difficult to explain its vanishing in what seems to be a clear sky. Is it a military aircraft using sky-transfer cloaking, which utilizes LED cameras to project an image of the sky from one surface of a plane onto another, or is it a genuinely unknown craft?

The shape of this device looks very similar to that of the drone captured by the Iranians.

And here we thought sure it was a dragonfly drone! This looks like a pretty airtight explanation...

This object appears to be somewhat similar to the Dragonfly Drones that appeared over California in the summer of 2007.

Another night, another low-flying triangular UFO. These have been seen in the US at least since the 1970s, so they are unlikely to be spy planes or drones. But what are they? In his book the Grays, Whitley Strieber has a description of a fascinating aircraft called the TR, which is a spy plane. It is actually a blimp, created and deployed back in the seventies. So, is it real? We asked him and got this response: "Fiction, but it shouldn't be. It's a good idea for a close-approach surveillance aircraft and it could be built, but not until battery technology produces lightweight, high power batteries that are the craft's motive power. It's probably 20 years out." Unless, of course, that technology exists somewhere behind the wall of secrecy.

The GOES Satellite takes regular images of Earth from a distance of 22,000 miles. A GOES watcher picked this up. It could be a video artifact, but if so, we couldn't find one like it in the 50 GOES images we searched any more than he could. If it is something near Earth, it's huge.

This cellphone video is entirely authentic, and shows a sky light of significant intensity that suddenly disappears. The phone is held inexpertly because the witness was caught off guard, but the disappearance of the light is clear enough. The problem is, there is no ordinary object in the sky that would do this, not a plane, not the moon, not a star, certainly not a candle lantern, because the light source is far too bright and doesn't flicker.

This is an unusual video. While it's true that fireflies do swarm in swampy areas, if this was indeed taken in November, it would be unusual to see them out in such numbers in the Florida Panhandle. It's also worth remembering that Ed Walters made his UFO videos in this same area, and that a UFO appeared over Gulf Breeze in the Florida Panhandle for many years. Working against this video is the fact that the witness states that he saw the object shoot up into the sky. If so, then how is it that he doesn't show that event, which would, of course, be strongly suggestive of authenticity? As the video ends in a freeze frame, he cannot claim that he just coincidentally cut off the camera at that moment. So where is the rest of it?

The first part of this story reads like a typical sighting of a fleet of Chinese lanterns, but then it gets very strange. What did these people see? Given that there is no released video, it's very hard to tell what the object that slowly rose into the sky and then disappeared may have been.

Such observations probably take place far more often than they are reported.

Sunday, December 4, 2011

Unfortunately, without being able to talk to the witness who reported this, it is impossible to determine how accurate the story is, but if it is true, it would certainly not be the first time an encounter between a huge UFO and a military aircraft has taken place. The most famous such incident took place over England in 1957, when Dr. (then Major) Milton Torres was ordered to scramble his fighter and attack a UFO he described as being "the size of an aircraft carrier." When he armed his rockets, it disappeared. Another UFO sighting report from Argentina. Apparently it's quite active there at this time.
Argentina has been a UFO hotspot similar to Brazil for many years. This local newspaper report says that this is the second UFO reported in the area in a month. The reports are coming from Buenos Aires State near Jachal. Thanks to Scott Corrales and UFO Digest.

This could have been a video of an aircraft moving directly toward the camera, but the witness returned and watched it hovering for another 40 minutes. It would be helpful to see a daylight video of the same spot to be certain that the lights are not on darkened hills, but that said, this appears to be an authentic video of unknown sky lights. What they may be, of course, we cannot speculate, but unknown they almost certainly are.

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Unfortunately, there is no video of this incident where two witnesses sitting in a truck at one in the morning observed a group of lights in the sky that appeared to be moving erratically around a dark central object. When the object seemed to drop down into a nearby woods, they fled the scene in the truck.
See video
This video of a group of pink lights could be an unknown object, but it could also be lights on towers or smokestacks. It would be helpful to have another video of the same location taken during the day. It is not candle lanterns.

The person who shot this video is convinced that it is not a lens reflection or lights associated with the oil rig he was on near Gonzales, Texas.

This brief video of a cluster of lights moving over a Missouri highway is probably an authentic unknown. The lights are not balloons or sky lanterns, and probably not an aircraft unless it has been intentionally equipped with illegal lighting in order to perpetrate what would seem to be a very trivial hoax.

Date of Sighting/Encounter (if known): November 22, 2011
Time of Sighting/Encounter (if known): between 2:30 and 3am
Location of Encounter: In my back backyard on the North side of Milwaukee WI USA
Details of Encounter: My dog came and licked my face to wake me sometime between 2:30 and 3 am. He had to go outside to do his business. As I open up my back door and I noticed a pale blue light in the sky I was able to get a closer look and it looked like a rounded out saucer. It was maybe 2000ft up in the sky. It was moving pretty fast maybe several hundred miles per hour. It made a 90 degree turn without slowing down at all and headed east towards lake Michigan. the following day I called the airport that is a few blocks from my house and they said they got some sort of blip on the radar around that time but to them it wasn't anything unusual. I never saw any other reports of witnesses in the news/paper/online
