Whitley considers the Key his most important publication to date. It consists of a transcript of a remarkable conversation he had in June of 1998 with a man who knocked on his hotel room door at three in the morning. This man's wisdom was unforgettably powerful and much of it absolutely unique.
He spoke about religion, science, history and the fate of the human soul. His words about becoming "radiant" seem to be connected with Daniel 12: 1-3, which states in part, "And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever."
He told of practical, down-to-earth ways of fulfilling the destiny of the soul, but his conversation ranged across dozens of topics, from the consequences of the Holocaust to the reason for ice ages (the inspiration for Superstorm), and the stunning fact that we already have the technology we need to communicate with the souls of the dead, and how it is that the dead may appear among us. He spoke of the nature of religion, of morality, of a new kind of compassion. He redefined evil and made clear the true nature and consequences of sin. His words pointed to a vision of a new and better world, and mapped out an amazing and totally unexpected destiny for mankind.
