What is being described by NASA as an "unidentified object" has delayed today's shuttle landing. Atlantis commander Brent Jett radioed this message: "It's fairly small? It was departing away from us, maybe 1 or 2 feet per second. It wasn't rising or falling? It was definitely moving away fairly quickly."
The BBC reports quotes a NASA spokesman as saying, "The mission management team has decided to keep Atlantis 24 more hours in orbit." This will give the shuttle astronauts a chance to take more photos of the strange object, although these may not be made public. They also want to make sure that the UFO is not actually a piece of the shuttle that has broken off. NASA may identify it as this if they release disinformation about the object in response to too many questions about it.
