Parma Strikes Luzon, More Rain for Manila
02-Oct-2009

Update: More Flooding Possible -
Last week, Typhoon Ketsana deluged Manila and the central
Philippines, leaving at least 240 dead and 400,000 homeless,
and challenging both governmental and private relief services
beyond the breaking point. And now it could get worse as
Typhoon Parma slams ashore north of Manila, sparing the city
its 90MPH winds, but threatening another deluge.

Why Hurricanes Don't Hit CA

that tornadoes may form in the area. Tornadoes that occur
from hurricanes moving inland from the Gulf Coast are

Gulf of Mexico. We hear news about
hurricanes hitting states like Florida and Louisiana,
but for some reason, they never seem to land in California.
The only hurricane every to have hit California landed in

New research finds that the number of sunspots provides an

While everyone is worrying about energy costs and the

that the average American is using LESS than energy than

more moderate and warm climates of the American West and

uses less energy than heating the house over a long winter
(improved insulation in new construction probably has
something to do with this too). Is this what some of those
