Everybody (except the US) seems to be
declassifying their UFO files. In 2005, Former Canadian
Defense Minister Paul Hellyer stated that "UFOs, are as real as the
airplanes that fly over your head" and that "current and past
US activities" (such as trying to
shoot
them down) risk "intergalactic war." (Note:

Minister Stephen Harper has opened a
website that reveals the details of thousands of
formerly-classified UFO files.
The Canadian government initially released 9,500 UFO files in
August, 2005 and again in December 2007. In both cases,
there was no official announcement and no press coverage. A
spokesperson for the Canadian research and UFO disclosure
organization "Exopolitics Toronto" said, "We have known that
Canada has a rich history of involvement and interest in the
UFO matter. This release confirms it. Why the Canadian
government placed these once-secret files in the public
domain with no public announcement similar to that of the
French, UK and Danish releases remains a mystery.
"This release is really not about UFO sightings at all. There
appear to be far deeper and unexplored ambiguities,
contradictions as well as serious political repercussions
within
this release of UFO files indicating the Canadian government
sought to obscure if not cover up the UFO matter."
The documents clearly show that the Canadian military
intentionally staged a cover up in the style of the US
government's by saying the UFOs were weather phenomenon,
meteors, misidentifications or hoaxes.
